India’s tourism sector remains overwhelmingly informal, with more than 70 percent of tourism enterprises operating without formal systems or training.

Under Learnet Skills Homestay Entrepreneurship Development Program, financed by SIDBI (Small Industries Development Bank of India) under its Cluster Intervention Programme and supported by the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board, Government of Uttarakhand, 150 homestay owners a six-day residential training in homestay management, housekeeping, digital marketing, regional cuisine preparation and key Government schemes for financial support, followed by three months of handholding support.

The program is helping rural entrepreneurs build sustainable tourism models rooted in culture and nature.

One such inspiring journey is that of Shri Bahadur Singh Dharmshaktu, who transformed his Homestay into a state-recognised rural tourism destination.
