Hard Seltzer game is warming up πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

Drink.ist is the newest entrant in the game and hits the nail. Catchy name, easy to open cap, and simple relatable flavours do the trick. At INR120 in Goa it makes it pocket friendly to give it a go 😎

Between the two, Grapefruit Smash works effortlessly well, and the Lime Smash is not just tangy but also pleasing πŸŠπŸ‹

Chill them well, drink 'em straight from the bottle, at under 100 cals, 5% ABV, you can definitely knock off a few πŸ₯‚

1.5hrs away from the bustling city of Bengaluru is the pretty setup of Big Banyan Wines the wines end of Paul John Whisky

While the brand has been around since 2009, this facility came up in 2017, with Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, and Shiraz on site. We had the good fortunes of meeting and tasting some unreleased liquids with the winemaker

Their Limited Spring Shiraz is an absolute winner, so is the classic Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.

When there do hope over to the Ranch, that serves amazing food, parts of which are grown on the site, with on-point hospitality. That Alleppey Fish Curry with Kerala Red Rice is still haunting us.

Thanks for promptly fixing it all up. Look forward to the new winery and limited editions to come

Amrut Distilleries has put India on the world map with their superlative single malt whiskies, and now doing that with their rums and gins. πŸ…πŸ†

We had the good fortunes of visiting the distillery and have an immersive study of their processes with their distiller + marketing head who spreads out technicals and binds them back with ease, making it all so easy to understand. We tasted from the likes of new spirit to barrel samples at cask strength, fresh distillates as they came out of the still, to some yet-to-release stuff. An experiential learning of sorts 😎

Experiencing their impressive warehousing, self operated cooperage, and an elaborate brigade of distillation techniques at play made it a memorable learning which we'll happily return for again and again.

Pretty venue, fab gins, great company, cozy weather, everything we needed for an amazing first (of many to come) Indian Gin Trail sessions in the city.

Good thing - every gin was appreciated, toying with Peer Drinks mint + bitter lemon tonics added more fun
Not so good thing - it's never enough πŸ˜›

+ Malaka Spice ensured everything was up to the T

India bags its first gold πŸ…πŸ†

Adding new heights to the Indian wine offerings, Sula Vineyards Brut Tropicale became the first ever Indian wine to grab a gold medal at the coveted 2022. A blend of Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, and Shiraz, tank fermented to retain its fruity freshness, it's amicable and an easy sipper with charm and vivacity.

We absolutely love the idea of putting Cremant de Nashik on the label, at its least it urges international community to enquire where Nashik is and turns heads towards India.

Big up to the team behind the effort and making it happen.

World Whisky Day

Celebrated on the third Saturday of May, it has become a tradition to raise a toast to our beloved brown spirit

We, however, raise a toast to what Indian whiskies have done and become, a brand and a quality benchmark by themselves. International accolades are one, but the consumer gratification and premiumisation that's come in is commendable

Raising to the good guys behind these celebrated Indian whiskies who've put us on the world map.

What started between two childhood friends, Sam Galsworthy and Fairfax Hall, in 2007, is now a symbol of world-class gins. Sipsmith is a classic London Dry Gin that's admired the world over, amongst the first to make a single shot gins, now makes its way to India.

Amongst its many firsts is the story of single-handedly changing an obscure British law. The local excise regulation of 1820s calls distillers to have a 1800 litres or bigger still to obtain a licence. Sipsmith had already setup there comparatively tiny 300 litres copper still. So they petitioned against the law and won, changing an ancient regulation, and paving the way for craft, small batch gins.

Juniper, angelica, orris root, cassia, almond, cinnamon, lemon, orange, licorice make the bulk of its foundation. Sipsmith makes for a fine Martini and an equally commendable Negroni. Like a classic gin, it opens with an expressive Juniper + pine notes, making way for citruses, lemon candy, and floral touches, before finishing on warm spices, earthiness, and a bit of a playful sweetness.

It's on Delhi shelves now at INR5485. Try it for yourself.
