•• Remembering Eminent Tabla Maestro Pandit Lachhu Maharaj of Benaras Gharana on his 4th Death Anniversary (28 July 2016) ••

Lakshmi Narayan Singh (16 October 1944 – 28 July 2016), known professionally as Lachhu Maharaj, was an Eminent Indian Tabla Maestro of Benaras gharana.

Maharaj was born on 16 October 1944 to Vasudev Narayan Singh. His sister Nirmala was the mother of actor Govinda. He married a French woman Teena, and they had a daughter, Narayni.

Along with his professional tabla performances all over the world, he was featured in films. He was nominated for the Padma Shri, but refused to accept it. He felt the appreciation of his audience was enough of an honor.

• Death :
Maharaj Singh died on 28 July 2016, at the age of 71. He was cremated in Manikarnika Ghat in Varanasi, in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

आज गुरू पूर्णिमा के शुभ अवसर मैं अपने सभी गुरू जनो का आभार व्यक्त करता हूँ कि उन्होंने अपना बहुमूल्य समय ओर ज्ञान मुझे देकर काबिल बनाया जिसका मैं कभी मोल नही चुका पाऊँगा।
मुझे इस बात का दुःख भी है के करोना के कारण इस बार मैं अपने गुरुओं के पास नही जा सका ।
और ख़ुशी भी है के आज मेरा पुत्र मेरा सबसे छोटा शिष्य भी बन गया है और मैं अपने सभी गुरू जनो से उसके लिए भी आशीर्वाद की कामना करता हूँ।
मैं आशा करता हूँ कि मेरे गुरू पंडित पंकज सुहास जी एवं पंडित अरविंद कुमार आज़ाद जी तथा मेरे दादा गुरू स्वर्गीय पंडित लछु महाराज जी एवं स्वर्गीय पंडित किशन महाराज जी का मेरे और मेरे परिवार पर आशीर्वाद सदा ऐसे ही बना रहे।
