Bosco Public School organised a Cybersecurity Workshop for Class IX students on April 17, 2026, presented by IEEE Computer Society, Student Branch at Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of Computer Applications and Management, New Delhi. The session commenced with a warm welcome of the Chairperson, Mr. Manas Kumar Sharma, by Academic Coordinator Ms. Rohini Sharma through a sapling presentation.
Students were introduced to cybersecurity — the practice of protecting digital systems, networks and data from attacks. The importance of safeguarding personal data, privacy and finances was emphasised. Common cyber threats were discussed including phishing, malware, ransomware and social engineering.
Password safety was the key focus — strong passwords must be alphanumeric (letters + numbers + special characters) and unique per account. The 2017 WannaCry ransomware attack was presented as a real-world case study showing how outdated systems caused billions in global damage. Personal protection strategies such as enabling two-factor authentication, updating software, and backing up data were shared. The workshop concluded with an interactive quiz game and Q&A session, followed by prizes to the most active participants. The session inspired students to become responsible and cautious digital citizens.
