Parasitic Plants (Class 7 Science)

🌿 Did you know some plants cannot make their own food and steal nutrients from other plants?
These are called Parasitic Plants — unique organisms that survive by attaching to a host plant and absorbing its water, minerals, and even prepared food!

Famous examples like Cuscuta (Amarbel), Rafflesia, and Mistletoe show how parasitic plants depend completely or partially on other plants for survival. Some are total parasites with no chlorophyll, while others are partial parasites that still perform some photosynthesis.

Perfect for students learning Nutrition in Plants (NCERT Class 7) and understanding how parasitic plants differ from autotrophs, saprotrophs, and other modes of nutrition. 🌱✨

💡 In this post, you’ll learn:
• What are parasitic plants?
• How parasites feed on host plants
• Difference between total & partial parasites
• Examples: Cuscuta, Rafflesia, Mistletoe
• Why Cuscuta is leafless, yellow & thread-like
• How parasites harm their host
• Why they are important in plant biology
