Robert Ballard, a professor of oceanography at the University of Rhode Island, received a request from the US Navy in 1985 to locate two sunken nuclear submarines. To maintain secrecy, the mission was publicly presented as an expedition to find X. Professor Ballard successfully located the submarines 12 days before the deadline. So his team actually had the time to find the X. Using his lessons from finding the two nuclear submarines, he indeed found X which made him world famous. Can you identify X and its connection to the given image?

During 830AD to 950AD, X were Hindu rulers of an area which comes in modern day Afghanistan. They observed Hindu religious customs, including worship of Shiva.

A trader named 'Rahab Sidh X' was closely associated with Prophet Mohammad’s family as his wish for a son had materialized after he first met Imam Hussain.

During the battle of Karbala, Rahab sent all his seven sons to fight beside Hussain. After they were martyred, this community got the honorific title of "Hussaini Brahmins". To this day, many descendants of this community celebrates Hindu festivals and mourns during the Muharram.

X are believed to be the bravest clan of Jatt. X means the Clan of the Hawk, and is a common last name amongst Punjabis. The word itself is derived from a Punjabi pronunciation of the Arabic word for hawk or falcon.

X in Persian also means "the people who levied Tax". X living in the Sialkot and Narowal districts in Punjab (Pakistan) were known to harass the invading armies of Timur, Ahmed Shah Abdali and others, who invaded India from the northwest.

The Tanganyika X epidemic of 1962 was an outbreak of mass psychogenic illness (MPI). It began on January 30, 1962, with three girls at a mission-run boarding school and spread haphazardly throughout the school, affecting 95 of the 159 pupils, aged 12–18. The teaching staff were not affected but reported that students were unable to concentrate on their lessons. The school was forced to close down on March 18, 1962.

The epidemic spread to Nshamba, a village that was home to several of the girls. Villagers started having X attacks and schools were closed. In total 14 schools were shut down and 1000 people were affected. Six to eighteen months after it started, the phenomenon died off.

Mohammad Abdus Salam (in the photo) was a Pakistani theoretical physicist. He was the first (and last) Pakistani and the first Muslim to be awarded the Nobel Prize in the sciences. Abdus Salam is buried in Rabwah, Punjab, Pakistan. The epitaph on his tomb initially read "First Muslim Nobel Laureate".
The Pakistani government removed "Muslim" and left only his name on the headstone.

Till late 20th century, in some tropical places, it was believed that men and women both menstruate after puberty. It was so because men also used to pass blood in urine. Later it was discovered that nearly all the men in that village had a disease called X, which is endemic in wet places (like rice fields, which was a primary workplace in that village).
X, also known as snail fever, is a disease caused by parasitic flatworms. According to the World Health Organization website, “It is estimated that at least 91.4 percent of those requiring treatment for X live in Africa.” In tropical countries, X is second only to malaria among parasitic diseases with the greatest economic impact.
