"National Youth Day: is celebrated on 12th January. The day is also known as "Rashtriya Yuva Diwas" and is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
- The theme for National Youth Day 2024 is “Arise, Awake, and Realise the Power You Hold”.
- The day is celebrated with joy and enthusiasm in India. Schools and colleges across the country mark the day with processions, speeches, music, youth conventions, seminars, Yogasanas, presentations, essay-writing competitions, recitations, and sports.

- Lal Bahadur Shastri was the second Prime Minister of India. He served as Prime Minister from 9 June 1964 to 11 January 1966. Apart from this, he was also the Foreign Minister, Home Minister, and Railway Minister. He died on January 11, 1966. It is said that he died due to poisoning in the USSR (today's Russia).
- Lal Bahadur Shastri was born on October 2, 1904 in Mughalsarai, seven miles away from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.
- His father was a school teacher. Shastri ji is known for giving the slogan ''Jai Jawan Jai Kisan''. He was also a freedom fighter and Indian politician.
- Shastri ji promoted 'Green Revolution' to increase food production in India.
