Arguments for the Existence of God

What is the proof that God exists? This question is often asked
but few teachers undertake any serious journey of critical inquiry
with the students in regard to this. This monograph is an attempt
to furnish the students with some material of thought and reflection
that will help them to avoid superficial thinking.

Vasant Panchami presents the glory and splendour of Spring. It is a Hindu festival, celebrated especially in the Northern parts of India, announcing the arrival of Spring. The arrival of Spring signifies the end of the days of gloom and awakening into new joy. The spiritual significance is that the festival symbolises the end of the days of ignorance and awakening into spiritual engligtenment. Goddess Saraswati, is portrayed as the Goddess of Knowledge according to Hinduism. She is the one who bestows the knowledge required for spiritual enlightenment. Hence She is worshipped on the day of this festival. So let us welcome the eternal spring of perenial bliss in our lives, understanding the the spiritual significance of Vasant Panchami.

They proved to me by convincing reasons that God does not exist; Afterwards I saw God, for he came and embraced me. And now what am I to believe- the reasoning of others or my own experience? Truth is what the soul has seen and experienced; the rest is appearance, prejudice and opinion.

Perfection means that which lacks no attribute of perfection.
Existence is one of the perfections.
Therefore perfection cannot lack existence.
Therefore perfection must have existence.
Therefore Perfection must exist.

First, it would appear that spirituality is a function of appreciation or reflection upon ideals or goals which are apt for positive moral evaluation and concerned with those aspects of human experience which attempt to reach beyond the mundane and the material towards what is transcendental and eternal. Second, it would seem that any education in spirituality or initiation into spiritual development should concern not only the promotion of values of the relevant sort but also the cultivation of positive dispositions for the successful pursuit of values of this sort

"Spirituality is in its essence an awakening to the inner reality of our being, to a spirit, self, soul, which is other than our mind, life and body, an inner aspiration to know, to feel, to be that, to enter into contact with the Greater Reality beyond and pervading the universe which inhabits also our being, to be in communion with It and union with It, and a turning, a conversion, a transformation of our whole being as a result of the aspiration, the contact, the union, a growth or waking into a new becoming or new being, a new Self, a new nature"

The divine light must always be actuated by the push towards perfection; a perfection of the joy of life is part and an essential part of it, the body's delight in things and the body's joy of life are not excluded from it; they too have to be made perfect.

"The yoga we practice is not for ourselves alone, but for the Divine; its aim is to work out the will of the Divine in the world, to effect a spiritual transformation and to bring down a divine nature and a divine life into the mental, vital and physical nature and life of humanity. Its object is not personal Mukti, although Mukti is a necessary condition of the yoga, but the liberation and transformation of the human being. It is not personal Ananda, but the bringing down of the divine Ananda -- Christ's kingdom of heaven, our Satyayuga -- upon the earth."- Sri Aurobindo

The greatest significance of the Gita lies in the fact that it proposes a solution to a central typical problem of human life that presents itself at a certain critical stage of development.

Harmony is a progressive state and action of synthesis and equilibrium generated by the creative force of joy and beauty and delight that combines and unites knowledge and peace and stability with will and action and growth and development. Without harmony, there is no perfection, even though there could be maximisation of one or more elements of our nature. When illumination and heroism join and engender relations of mutuality and unity, each is perfected by the other and creativity is endless.
