'Nurture the Inner Environment to Conserve the Outer Environment'

All Ladakh Gonpa Association, Central Institute of Buddhist Studies (Deemed University) and the Snow Leopard Conservancy India Trust (SLC-IT) are hosting a two-day conference titled “Buddhism and the Environment in Ladakh” to explore the intersection of Tibetan Buddhism and Environmental Conservation in Ladakh on 9-10 May 2018. We are humbled to have His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Tinle Lhundup, Head of Drikung Kagyu Lineage and Ambassador of UN Global Mountain Partnership as the Chief Guest to bless the occasion, and Shri Dorje Motup, Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Leh as the Guest of Honour. With great pleasure, we invite all concerned Ladakhis to come and grace the event by sharing their valuable thoughts. The idea for the conference emerged from one of SLC-IT’s current initiatives: religion and conservation. SLC-IT hopes this will be the first in a series of similar events with different faiths in Ladakh in the near future.

Workshop on wildlife and environment

SLC-IT has been conducting workshop cm training for the college students from Ladakh-studying in and outside Ladakh on various environmental and conservation issues relevant to Ladakh. Our last two workshops were on climate change and garbage management. This year it is going to conduct its third workshop on “ Ladakh’s wildlife, environment, and ecology.” Since the number of seats is limited (only 15 students), interested students should register ASAP for this fun filled yet adventurous workshop.

Diet Plays a crucial role in achieving the gole set out in the constitution of India for Universalition of Elementry/Primary Education and also for raising the quality of education in the District.It would be so designed as to train the teachers in Transacting Curriculum,keeping the learner at the centre of the teaching-learning process

DIET Leh will also provide residential facilities to the trainee teachers. The Target group of training and Orientation programs are Elementary school teachers, headmaster, head of schools. Resource person who will conduct suitable programs for teachers. The main function is also action research & experimentation to deal with specific problems to district in achieving the objective of quality education Diet is a non-vocational institute which provides both trainings and academic support to the Government school of Leh District .

The academic support activity would go on throughout the year & trainings would be at peak during school vacations. DIET Leh has been organizing one year Pre-service & In-Service Training to teachers in diploma in elementary education(D.E.Ed) right from the date of its establishment Diet leh is also set to provide a complete set of syllabus from Nursery to class 8th of the govt. school of leh district . It also distributes free books from classes nursery to 8th.
