๐ Topic of the Day (Polity): Fundamental Duties ๐
Part IV-A (Article 51-A) of the Constitution specifies 11 Fundamental Duties for citizens. They were added by the 42nd Amendment in 1976 based on the recommendations of the Swaran Singh Committee.
Key Fundamental Duties:
๐ To abide by the Constitution and respect its ideals, institutions, the National Flag, and the National Anthem.
๐ฎ๐ณ To cherish and follow the noble ideals that inspired our national struggle for freedom.
๐ค To uphold and protect the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India.
๐ก๏ธ To defend the country and render national service when called upon to do so.
๐ณ To protect and improve the natural environment including forests, lakes, rivers, and wildlife.
๐ฉโ๐ฌ To develop a scientific temper, humanism, and the spirit of inquiry and reform.
