When we started this journey, many people advised us to “wait and watch.” Some felt it was safer to work only with established, often foreign publishers. I understood that hesitation. Starting something new—especially in academic publishing—rarely looks sensible in the beginning.

Which is why this moment matters to me. Being part of ONOS signals that open access publishing from India can be part of the national knowledge system—not on the margins, not waiting for validation.

This has always been about building something that helps Indian researchers publish, discover, and share knowledge without barriers. The road ahead is long, but today feels like a quiet confirmation that the direction was right.
