Latest "16th edition 2024-25" of the book Indian Economy, McGraw Hill was released just few days back. Readers should love this edition more than previous editions.

Normally, very few students really prepare for the ESSAY paper in the UPSC Main Exam. What they do is that 'they simply try writing essays in the exam hall itself' without any prior home work done...! This is simply hazardous..!!

Essay is a paper today in which one can not only score high marks but makes the highest degree of difference in final selection together with in getting a respectable rank. The paper deserves more focused preparation than normally students do..

New edition for Main Exams. 2017-18 is now in market.

The book 'CONTEMPORARY ESSAYS' is under a process of "serious" REVISION. The 2nd edition will have several features:
1. More essays (almost double).
2. Several essays will be dropped.
3. Refreshing inputs in few existing essays.
3. Essays to be "in sync" with the changing contours of the times.
4. Designed as per changing needs of the UPSC.

ESSAY Paper makes a BIG difference...!!!!

Essay paper makes huge difference. Final selection together with a high rank in the merit list depend on the performance in it.
The reason why students generally are not good at writing essay is somehow linked to our education system which does not take any specific care about the writing part of the students. We are given lectures....and directly called to write our BA or MA exams. It is believed that by 10th or 12th standard students must have developed a good writing skill.
Thus, those who write well must have developed the art by themselves......there is not special paper in our Universities to take care of this part...!

One of our students in the ESSAY course have fetched 155/250 in the MAIN EXAM-2013 (Kuldeep Singh, Rank-247, IAS). This may be the all India HIGHEST marks (about this we are not confirmed yet?).

Improving Essay writing is an 'Art' and art can be developed by only practice. .....so starting. .'early' the real thing. .....it can not be developed "overnight".......be very clear......joining coaching would not make any difference if the institute did not check your essays....again the expert should be a person of knowledge, , having grip on language and should be a having wisdom. ...!

ESSAY in the restructured Mains Syllabus:
1. Weight increased from10 to 15 % in total Mains Exam.
2. Essay = 1 Paper of GS!
3. Essay = 1 Paper of Optional or better say HALF of it!
4. Essay = 250 Marks = JUST ONE essay = GS or Optional 1 paper requires answering over DOZEN questions!!!!
What does it mean-- in the sceme of Mains Exam essay paper is going to be a "big game-changer". Besides, it shows the 'importance' UPSC has delegated to the paper!!!!!
With a 'casual' approach like past, one can fetch just average or below average marks!!!!!
Its time to get serious about it......Essay can be improved 'overnight'....it takes time.....1st have "informations" and then 'how to write".
The 'Practice Essays' written by the candidates "MUST" get checked and feedback of improvement be given by an Expert of 'Knowledge" and a "good grip" on the language of essay...!!!
