The Centre for Well-being and Flourishing under Psychology Resource Centre under IQAC, Daulat Ram College organized the event called ‘Positive Conversations 3.0: Igniting the H.E.R.O within’ on 29th September, 2022.
The aim of the event is to invite our college students to narrate their stories of hope, efficacy, resilience and optimism (the full form of H.E.R.O.) to inspire other students. There were four students as speakers from various departments of our college and one from Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Magra Punjla, Jodhpur. Each student shared their life story in terms of the numerous challenges they have faced and how due to their positive attitude, determination as well as support from others they have bounced back from adversity. The event also involved two experiential activities on character strengths and expressing gratitude. Display boards featured quotes, poems, messages by students on hope, resilience etc. We thank our media partner DU Beat for covering our event. We thank everyone for their support and cooperation in making this event a huge success!

I teach positive psychology and emotional intelligence and I’m horrified by people who are promoting ‘quick ideas to be happy’ or saying things such as ‘be positive’ and ‘everything will be fine’. Since when is positive psychology a quick fix? And since when has happiness become ‘the emotion’. I’m sorry but people should properly understand the ideas of positive psychology and emotional intelligence instead of using them loosely especially at the time of the pandemic where people are losing their loved ones. It is nothing less than a slap on the face when we tell people to ‘be positive’!!
Believe me grief, loss, and sadness have their own special place and one must experience all emotions because each emotion has its own unique function.
This year has been the worst so far for all of us with so many people getting infected and losing their precious lives.
Wish we don’t have to lose anymore precious lives now..Hoping and praying that God has mercy on us..
Till then grieving the loss of precious lives, trying to understand what lessons the Almighty wants us to learn and taking one more step towards spirituality..
At this time we are not ‘looking for happiness’, let’s just be with each other at this difficult time, hold each other and support each other..🙏🏻🙏🏻
