“Growing up is a journey of understanding, awareness and self-care.”

A Puberty Education Workshop was organised for the students of Class V, focusing on puberty, menstruation and menstrual hygiene. The interactive session helped students understand the physical and emotional changes that accompany growing up.

The session was conducted by Ms. Artana Narendhar, a School Counsellor with an M.A. in Psychology, specialising in Clinical and Counselling Psychology. With experience in mental health, counselling and socio-emotional learning, she brought valuable insights into adolescent concerns such as stress, anxiety, self-esteem, peer relationships and academic pressure.

Ms. Artana Narendhar was warmly welcomed by our Admission and Discipline In-charge, Ms. Jyotsna Vishwakarma, who presented her with a planter as a token of appreciation.

Students were sensitised about periods, the importance of menstrual hygiene and appropriate personal care practices. A video by Dr Maitreyee, Gynaecologist, further familiarised them with menstrual hygiene. They were also guided on the correct use of sanitary pads and safe disposal practices.

The session fostered self-awareness, confidence and responsible hygiene, equipping students with essential knowledge to approach the journey of growing up with greater understanding, sensitivity and ease.

The Generation Global Video Conference on “Identity & Belonging” provided students of Classes IX and X with an opportunity to reflect on what shapes their identity and gives them a sense of belonging. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of The Ashok Leyland School, Tamil Nadu, St. Stephen’s Sr. Sec. School, Mumbai and individual students from Indonesia, along with students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Janakpuri, New Delhi.

The discussion revolved around thought-provoking questions related to the different components of identity that are important to individuals and the extent to which people define their own identity or are influenced by how others perceive them. Students also reflected on the communities they belong to and discussed why these communities hold significance in their lives.

The interaction offered students an opportunity to share their personal perspectives and learn how identity and belonging can be experienced differently across cultures and communities. Listening to students from different parts of India and Indonesia helped them appreciate diverse experiences, backgrounds and viewpoints.

Overall, the session was an enriching learning experience that encouraged students to reflect on who they are, where they belong and how their identities are shaped through their relationships, communities and experiences.

August unfolded as a vibrant month of learning, leadership, creativity, and celebration, bringing together enriching classroom experiences, cultural engagements, and opportunities for our students to shine.

From the spirit of patriotism reflected in the Independence Day celebrations and the confidence fostered through the Investiture Ceremony to the curiosity sparked by the Maths and Science Exhibition and the National Museum visit, each experience added a meaningful dimension to their learning journey. The month also witnessed moments of achievement as our Olympiad performers and other prize winners were recognised, while initiatives such as EcoComm Fest, the Textile Collection Drive, and the Upschool and Canva workshops further encouraged innovation, collaboration, and responsible citizenship.⁩

“Some lives are remembered. Some lives become a part of who we are.”

As we revisit this heartfelt tribute, we find ourselves returning to the remarkable journey of our Founder Director Ma’am, Mrs. Anjali Aggarwal—a woman whose life was deeply intertwined with her love for education, literature, children and people.

A voracious reader and a passionate lover of literature, Mrs. Aggarwal believed that a book could open a door to a world of thought, imagination and possibility. She had the beautiful habit of sharing books with students and teachers, thoughtfully placing the right book in the right hands and, in doing so, nurturing a love for reading that continues to hold a cherished place within St. Mark’s. To her, education was never confined to the pages of a textbook or the walls of a classroom. She wanted children to be curious in their thinking, sensitive in their hearts and, above all, grounded in values.

The imprint she left on St. Mark’s is found not only in its corridors and classrooms, but in the people who continue to carry forward what she held dear. In every teacher who inspires, every child who discovers the joy of learning, every book that sparks a young imagination, and every act of kindness that finds its way into our school community, there is a quiet continuation of what she began.

What she nurtured continues to grow, finding expression in the St. Mark’s of today and in the St. Mark’s we aspire to build for tomorrow. We carry forward her love for learning, her faith in the goodness of people, and her deep belief in education as a force that shapes lives.

She gave St. Mark’s more than a foundation; she gave it a way of looking at education, at life, and at the human beings we strive to nurture.

“Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.”

A Computational Thinking (CT) Workshop was conducted for the teachers of Classes I–V, facilitated by Ms. Pragya Priyadarshini. The session explored the four pillars of CT—Decomposition, Pattern Recognition, Abstraction and Algorithmic Thinking—along with its curriculum, pedagogy and assessment strategies.

The interactive session engaged teachers through discussions, idea-sharing and problem-solving activities, offering practical insights into integrating CT into classroom learning. An interactive quiz further reinforced their understanding, followed by the presentation of Certificates in Computational Thinking.

The workshop equipped teachers with effective strategies to nurture logical reasoning, analytical thinking and structured problem-solving skills, empowering them to foster computational thinkers among young learners.

Promoting awareness around health and wellbeing is an essential step towards nurturing informed, sensitive and responsible young minds. In this endeavour, an Awareness Workshop was organised at St. Mark’s Senior Secondary Public School, Janakpuri, in collaboration with GoSharpener and NUA. The sessions were conducted by Ms. Shilpi Shankar, a women’s health expert and Founder of Menoverse, who engaged students in meaningful conversations around menstrual health and adolescence.

Separate sessions were conducted for boys and girls, with the girls’ session focusing on menstrual health, wellbeing and hygiene, while addressing common misconceptions and encouraging informed conversations. The session for boys focused on adolescence and menstrual health awareness, fostering understanding, empathy and respect towards an important aspect of health.

The interactive sessions provided students with a safe and informative space to learn, reflect and ask questions. The workshop concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, allowing students to have their queries addressed and further deepening their understanding. The initiative reinforced the importance of open conversations around menstrual health and encouraged students to approach health and wellbeing with greater awareness, sensitivity and responsibility.
