" प्रिय अभिभावक, ​कुछ दिन पूर्व प्राथमिक कक्षा के शिक्षकों के मध्य यह चर्चा हुई कि छोटे बच्चे अक्सर अपने आप में सीमित रहते हैं। प्रायः हर बच्चे का अपना कोई प्रिय मित्र या सहपाठी होता है और वे केवल उसी के साथ घुलना-मिलना पसंद करते हैं। एक ओर जहाँ यह व्यवहार आपसी प्रेम और प्रतिबद्धता को दर्शाता है, वहीं दूसरी ओर यह सामाजिक शिष्टाचार के उस मूल सिद्धांत को कमजोर करता है जिसमें सभी के साथ तालमेल बिठाकर रहना आवश्यक है।

​बच्चों के इस व्यवहार पर विचार करने के उपरांत हमने यह निर्णय लिया गया कि आपसी मनमुटाव के दौरान बच्चे एक-दूसरे को जो 'कट्टा' (बोलचाल बंद करना) करते हैं, उसे एक सकारात्मक मोड़ दिया जाए। हमने एक छोटी सी क्लासरूम गतिविधि के द्वारा इस 'कट्टा' को 'अब्बा' (दोस्ती और मेल-मिलाप) में परिवर्तित करने का प्रयास किया।

​इस छोटी सी पहल से बच्चों में एक-दूसरे के प्रति संवेदनशीलता बड़ी। बच्चों ने अपने सहपाठियों को उनकी कमियों के बावजूद स्वीकार करना और सहर्ष गले लगाना सीखा । हमें पूर्ण विश्वास है कि ये छोटे-छोटे कदम भविष्य में एक संगठित और संवेदनशील समाज का निर्माण करेंगे।"
