Physics Magazine compiled by a group of physics enthusiasts (pursuing Physics Hons. at Gargi College) Teacher Editor for the magazine is Dr Itty Garg.
In starry skies that enliven the night, to quiet sleep and neuron sparks...
In restless vibrating particles to the apparent stability in macro-size...
In eyes that seek, and mind that wanders...
Physikos traverses its way through you and me. With a simple aim in mind, and endless days of hardwork, Physikos came out with its first issue on 23rd March 2012, launched by Professor V.K Tripathi and Pr
incipal of Gargi College, Mrs Meera Ramchandran. We would also like to thank Miss Anita and Physics society of Gargi (Quasar) for their support. Physikos(2016-17) team:
Physicist Stephen Hawking passes away at 76
Inside the shell of his increasingly useless body was a razor-sharp mind, fascinated by the nature of the universe, how it was formed and how it might end.
On this day January 3, 1919 in Manchester, Ernest Rutherford split the atom or, more precisely, the nucleus by bombarding nitrogen atoms with α particles from bismuth. He caused the first artificial nuclear reaction and transmuted the nitrogen atoms into oxygen
Happy Birthday to Satyendra Nath Bose !!!
In 1924 Bose sent a seminal paper to Einstein in which he derived Planck’s radiation formula without recourse to classical physics. He wrote a covering letter saying:-
Respected Sir, I have ventured to send you the accompanying article for your perusal and opinion. You will see that I have tried to deduce the coefficient .. in Planck's law independent of classical electrodynamics.
Einstein extended the paper’s concepts, signaling the creation of Bose-Einstein statistics.
Bose-Einstein statistics applies to particles like photons which don’t have half-integer spin. It underlines critical phenomena like lasers and superfluidity in liquid helium. It took until 1995 for Bose-Einstein condensation to be experimentally verified.
