Greetings from the English Debating Societies of Gargi College and Miranda House, University of Delhi!

We are extremely delighted to present to you a one of a kind fundraiser debate - Inaayat PD 2022!

This collaboration is our first step to utililise whatever we have achieved as NCM colleges in the circuit, in favour of a greater cause as we strongly believe that debate should meet its ends. We hope to see enthusiastic participation from the circuit, and look forward to hosting you on our campuses!

The details of the tournament are as follows:

Format: Asian Parliamentary (3v3)
Mode: Offline
Venues: Miranda House (in-rounds), Gargi College (out-rounds)

Inaayat PD will be an open tournament with cross-institutional teams allowed.

Greetings!

The English Debating Society of Miranda House is delighted to announce the details for Manzar 2022, our annual parliamentary debate!

Dates: 8th to 10th April
Format: British Parliamentary

Manzar 2022 will be a Gender and Sexual Minorities Debating Tournament. We will accept participation from individuals who identify as being part of the LGBTQIA+ community, women and debaters who are anywhere on the gender and sexuality spectrum apart from being a cis-het male.

We welcome any and all suggestions on ways we can make our tournament and registration process accommodative of the diverse identities that we wish to host.

Starting off the freshers' tournament season at GGS Freshers' APD 2020 were two institutional teams from Miranda House competing in the Octa-finals. One of the teams comprised of Kamalkoli, Ramsha and Tavishi; while the other team comprised of Suhani, Gowri and Tarini.

Also representing Miranda House at JDMC Open APD 2021 were Suhani, Ramsha and Kamalkoli who went on to debate in the Quarter Finals.

In an institutional team, Thharunee, Ramandeep and Tanisha reached the Quarter Finals of St. Xavier X-Conferno 2021.

CUPD 2021 also witnessed a great performance by our team consisting of Vedika, Sunaina and Savita who debated in the Novice Octa-finals.

We also saw a team from Miranda House consisting of Avni, Nandini and Nilasri debating in the Pre-quarter Finals of LSR Freshers' APD 2021. Nilasri also went on to become the 5th best speaker of the tournament.

Keeping up the great performance, Suhani, Ramsha and Kamalkoli were coveted finalists and runners-up at KMC Freshers' APD 2021. Kamalkoli was the Best Speaker of the tournament, while Ramsha and Suhani were 3rd and 4th best speakers respectively.

At Alfaaz Open APD 2021, Siddhi Joshi of Miranda House was the 10th Best Speaker (Novice).

In a cross team, Suhani debated till the Semi Finals at Gargi APD 2021. Kamalkoli, as part of a cross team, was a semi-finalist at SFL International APD 2021 and at CNLU Open APD 2021. She was also the 10th best speaker at CNLU PD.

Kamalkoli and Gowri were the 1st runner up team in Controversus Conventional Debate with Gowri also winning Best Speaker. They also took part in the 3rd Annual Sanjay Srivastava Memorial Debate and debated till the finals.

Amongst the freshers, Vanshika Dubey broke as an adjudicator at the Premchand Memorial Debate.

Megha Anand also broke as an adjudicator at IITD PD 2021.

The process of induction into the *English Debating Society* of *Miranda House* has officially begun! In order to register yourself for the same, please fill out the following form. *Those who have not registered will not be considered for auditions.*

The first round of the auditions will follow a *turncoat format*. *No prior debate experience is required* and the auditions are open to *students of all years and departments.*

Here is the slot list for the Miranda House Conventional Debate 2020! Given the team cap of 15 and with the goal of having as diverse a team pool as possible, we have given slots to atleast one team from each registered college. In some cases, due to last minute back-outs, institutions have been granted more than one slot on a first come first serve basis. Thank you to everyone who registered and we hope to see the selected teams very soon!

The debate will follow a standard conventional debate format. One contestant from each team will be required to speak in favour of the motion and the other against it in English. Each contestant will be expected to speak for 4 minutes.

Please note that the debate will be hosted on 1st November, 2020 at 10 a.m. on Google Meets and has a registration fee of Rs. 100 per person. Payment details will be shared with the selected teams soon.

The motion for the debate will be released two days before the event.

We request teams to abide by the general code of conduct and avoid any last-minute cancellations or pull-outs.
