YI YUVA DSC team was given an opportunity to be a part of a talk on India's Surgical strike on Pakistan being breifed by Mr. Mahroof Raza, a retired Indian Army officer with experience in counter-insurgency operations, at The Indian Habitat Centre on 9 November 2019.
The insights shared with the audience ranging all way from the 1947-48 partition to the till date border dispute with Pakistan had many elements which citizens like us were unaware of, and thus proved to be a knowledge gainer for every member of the team irrespective of a composition of students from different course streams.
Mahroof Raza is currently the Strategic Affairs Editorial Adviser to Times Now. He is also the Editor-at-Large of FAUJI INDIA Magazine. He graduated from St Stephen's College, Delhi, has an M.A. in War Studies from King's College, London, and an M.Phil in International Relations from Cambridge University.

“Children do not constitute anyone's property, they are neither the property of their parents nor even of society. They belong only to their own future freedom.”
With this aim and agenda in mind a special screening of award winning documentary 'The Price of Free', based on life of Mr Kailash Satyarthi as an activist was organized at Andhra Auditorium yesterday.
Our YI YUVA DSC team was given the honour to be a part of the screening followed by a High tea session with Mr. Kailash Satyarthi
The presence of himself the Nobel Peace Laureate Mr. Kailash Satyarthi, a forefront leader in a global movement with aim to end all forms of violence against children especially slavery and trafficking, was an unforgettable one . Those remarkable words he shared were enlightening for the vast audience present out there.
Going parallel with Mr Kailash's vision we too do believe that child labour and poverty are inevitably bound together and if one continue to use the labor of children as the treatment for the social disease of poverty, one will have both poverty and child labour to the end of time.

On 25th October 2019 , YUVA Society of Dyal Singh College got an opportunity to visit Rashrapati Bhavan.
40 members along with our teacher coordinator Amit Kumar and YI member Dheeraj Jain, visited Rashrapati Bhavan and got a glimpse of inside view. We got to learn the history of Rashrapati Bhavan by our Guide. We learned about the paintings, architecture and sculptures present inside the Building. Every step that we took on those marble steps echoed the glory of our nation. It was an enriching and thrilling experience for all.

On 22nd October 2019, an opportunity was given to us by YI YUVA Delhi to conduct an awareness session with kids who come from an underprivileged background. The location of Sindhi Basti at Vasant Kunj was allocated to us. We collaborated with Lakshyam Center for this session. As we reached the center and met the students, they welcomed us with smiles. It was really heart warming to see the cheerful faces of the kids. We told them about the harmful effects of crackers. A play was presented to make them aware about the gravity of situation. We make them aquainted about harms of bursting crackers and other harmful effects like noise and air pollution.
It was great to interact with students. We ourself got to know some of the harmful effects that we were not acquainted with. It was a wonderful event over all.

On 15th October 2019, YUVA Society of Dyal Singh College got an opportunity to volunteer for a renowned NGO Sachhi Saheli, in an attempt to promote International Girl Child Day, which falls on 11th October every year.
This year the theme was 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao'.
The location where the event unfolded was ASN Senior Secondary School, Mayur Vihar. Students from about 30 government schools came to be a part of this day as performers as well as audience. Along with the performances to spread awarness, competitions were also held, like, Rangoli Making, Poster designing, Walk for a cause, slogan writing, documentary making and the list goes on. The other attraction of the event were the stalls setup by different NGOs to promote their cause by selling non - profitable products.
The experience was an enriching one for the members of the society as this day not only reminded us about the exigency to save the girl child but also taught us some managerial skills which are essential for becoming the proficient youth.
