Announcing the 'Global Convention on Transforming Bihar 2027: Collective Pathways to Inclusive Growth and Shared Prosperity' in Patna on 10-11 Jan, 2027. The two-day forum seeks to bring together scholars and experts, policymakers, industry leaders, civil society members, development practitioners, and members of the Bihar diaspora from India and abroad to deliberate on pathways for transforming Bihar into a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable economy. The Convention is being organised by the Institute for Human Development (IHD) and Nalanda University in collaboration with Bihar Foundation, Department of Industries, Government of Bihar.

The Institute for Human Development (IHD), Bihar Programme Office, organised a lecture on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Employment by distinguished economist Dr. Ajit Ranade, followed by a panel discussion on 'Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Bihar: Prospects and Challenges at the Patna Museum Auditorium'.

Organised under the auspices of the IHD Centre of Excellence on AI and Labour Markets, with support from the Anusandhan National Research Foundation ( ), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, the event brought together policymakers, researchers and practitioners to discuss the opportunities and challenges AI presents for employment, labour markets and Bihar's development.

India has an estimated 450 million internal migrants as of the 2011 Census. Many are seasonal or circular workers, people who move between their villages and cities for work but don't permanently relocate. On election day, they're often hundreds of kilometres away from where they're registered to vote, with no way to get back.

This isn't just a logistical problem but a democratic one.

IHD's Working Paper, "Migration, Mobility, and Voting Rights: Emerging Challenges in India" by Prof. Ram B. Bhagat, sheds light on the invisible voters in our electoral system, seasonal labourers, inter-state workers, women displaced by marriage migration, NRIs, and even internally displaced persons.
The paper makes a compelling case: we need to distinguish between migrants and mobile populations, and design solutions accordingly, whether that's portable voter registration, remote voting, or postal ballots.
