We are a systems transformation and behavior change organization in the Indian education system. The Fellowship exists to create that new generation of leaders.
The Gandhi Fellowship Programme
India is a big country with some big problems that remain unsolved. These exist across the fields of education, healthcare and livelihoods, and encompass wider issues such as social justice and individual responsibility. The Gandhi Fellowship Programme aspires to develop the next generation of leaders who are committed and equipped to lead change in a variety of se
ctors, to find effective and innovative solutions to these problems. The Principal Leadership Development Programme
KEF devised the Principal Leadership Development Programme (PLDP) to strike at the root of the schools education problem. It aims to address the fact that Headmasters of government schools are not adequately trained to run a school as an independent unit. KEF develops initiatives that cause significant personal transformation leading to a life-long commitment to social change. A third program, the Piramal School of Leadership is in the pipelines and with it Kaivalya Education Foundation plans to establish the first educational institution in South Asia dedicated to educational leadership. Envisioned as a Graduate School of Education, an attempt is being made to provide an IIM/IIT equivalent for the education sector, producing 1000’s of trained educational leaders equipped to create change from “within”. It will comprise 6 centres for specialist research in education and provide M.Ed. programs, certificate courses for existing education officials & principals. Kaivalya Education Foundation is currently developing the scope of this initiative. The PLDP runs in tandem with the Gandhi Fellowship Programme, providing a 3 year in-service training course for government primary school principals. PLDP tackles real problems existing in government schools; supporting headmasters to find solutions to turn around their failing schools and creating leaders out of administrators.
