'Grow, Nourish, Sustain.'
World Food Day is celebrated annually on 16 October to promote global awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and to highlight the need to ensure healthy diets for all.
The food we choose and the way we consume it affect our health and that of our planet. It has an impact on the way agri-food systems work. The UN Secretary-General is convening the very first Food Systems Summit in September to launch bold new actions to transform the way the world produces and consumes food, with an aim to get back on track to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Let's do our part of the change.

World Sight Day is celebrated on the second Thursday of October every year. It aims to spread awareness about blindness and visual impairment.
According to the World Health Organisation, over 100 crore people around the world have a preventable vision impairment or one that has yet to be addressed. The majority of people with vision impairment are above the age of 50. However, vision loss can affect people of all ages. It is important that we aware ourselves about the importance of sight and help people around us while we still have the time.
Contrary to popular belief, sight awareness does not only pertain to visual impairment but also strategies for improving vision in terms of spectacles, lens hygiene etc.

This year UN Women, a couple of other UN agencies and girls around the world have joined together to celebrate International Day of the Girl Child under the theme "Digital generation. Our generation.”, calling for equal access to the internet and digital devices for girls, targeting investments to facilitate opportunities to safely and meaningfully access, use, lead and design technology.
Ending all forms of discrimination against women and girls is not only a basic human right, but it also has a multiplier effect across all other development areas. Promoting gender equality is crucial to accelerating sustainable development. Let’s help humanity grow together!

On National Post Day, we recognize the invaluable contributions of postal workers to our country. The vast postal network – involving lakhs of workers moving millions of pieces of mail through hundreds of thousands of post offices – is woven into our society, connecting communities the country over.
When COVID-19 affected all the countries of the world, including the established supply chain infrastructure, the Indian Post still found a way to continue offering services to communities.
Hats off to their innovation and resilience!
