The United States and Iran have announced a framework agreement aimed at ending nearly four months of conflict, with a formal signing ceremony scheduled in Geneva.
The agreement is expected to facilitate the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, restore maritime traffic, and launch a 60-day negotiation process on Iran’s nuclear programme and other key issues.
Global oil prices eased following the announcement, though differences remain over the future management of the Strait and broader regional security concerns.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the G7 Summit in Évian, France, where leaders will discuss global partnerships, international cooperation, and emerging challenges.

The Supreme Court of India has ruled that married daughters cannot be excluded from compassionate appointments, calling such exclusion arbitrary and constitutionally untenable.
The judgment came while setting aside an Allahabad High Court order that denied a married daughter’s claim for appointment on compassionate grounds. The Court also questioned a government order that excluded married daughters from the definition of family.
The ruling is being seen as an important step towards gender equality in public employment policies.
Russia launched hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles across Ukraine overnight, targeting Kyiv and other cities.

The Centre is considering assistance from the armed forces for the logistics of the NEET-UG re-examination scheduled for June 21 after the original exam was cancelled over alleged paper leak and malpractice.
A high-level review meeting chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh discussed secure transportation and delivery of question papers. The Army and Air Force may assist in logistics and emergency situations, while examination conduct will remain under civilian authorities.

The Sashastra Seema Bal has arrested two Thai women at the Indo-Nepal border near Panitanki in West Bengal for allegedly using fake immigration stamps to enter Nepal.
The accused were intercepted in the Kharibari area, while the driver who transported them was also arrested. Police have launched an investigation and are searching for another suspect linked to the case.
