This year marks a special milestone in my life, 30 complete years of my journey in music. It is not merely a measure of time, but a celebration of a continuous path woven with melody, rhythm, and emotion.
Three decades ago, when I began my practice, it was simply an attempt to learn. Gradually, that effort transformed into my identity. Over these 30 years, I have not only learned but have also had the privilege of teaching. The journey from being a student to becoming a mentor has been truly inspiring and fulfilling.
In the process of learning and teaching music, every question like, what, when, where, how, and ultimately why has guided me toward deeper understanding:
1. What to learn?
2. When to learn? – Every day, every moment, because music is a lifelong practice.
3. Where to learn? – Not just in classrooms, but through every experience in life.
4. How to learn? – With dedication, and consistent practice.
5. Why to learn? – Because sounds have a huge impact on human life.
Throughout these years, I have connected with hundreds of students through the language of music. Stage performances, workshops, cultural programs, and personal training sessions have enriched this journey immensely.
What makes this milestone even more meaningful is that for nearly 20 years, I have also been sharing these experiences through talks, and conversations.
Today, as I look back at this 30-year journey, I feel both pride and gratitude. This achievement belongs not only to me but also to all the teachers, students, and music lovers who have supported and walked alongside me.
And the journey continues. With renewed enthusiasm and inspiration, the caravan of music moves forward.
I warmly invite you to be part of this celebration of 30 years of musical dedication.
Let us continue to learn, teach, and experience the transformative power of music together. 🎶

Teacher's Role
1. Observe and Understand the Students.
Begin by carefully observing your students to understand their strengths, weaknesses, learning styles, interests, and needs. Pay attention to their behavior, participation, and level of understanding. This foundational step helps you tailor your teaching approach effectively.
2. Set Clear Goals and Learning Targets.
Based on your observations, establish a clear learning path. Define specific, measurable objectives that outline what students should know or be able to do by the end of the lesson or course. Clear goals provide direction for both the teacher and the students.
3. Develop a Structured Lesson Plan.
Design a detailed lesson plan aligned with your goals. Include engaging activities, instructional strategies, materials, and assessment methods. Ensure the plan accommodates different learning styles and provides opportunities for interaction and practice.
4. Deliver the Lesson Effectively.
Present the lesson’s knowledge and information in a clear, engaging, and organized manner. Use examples, visuals, discussions, and practical applications to make the content meaningful. Encourage student participation and create an inclusive learning environment.
5. Practice Patience and Monitor Progress.
Throughout the teaching process, remain patient and attentive. Observe students’ responses, provide guidance when needed, and adjust your instruction if necessary. Continuous monitoring ensures students stay on track and feel supported.
6. Evaluate Student Performance.
After the lesson, measure student understanding through quizzes, assignments, discussions, or other evaluation methods. This helps determine whether learning objectives have been achieved.
7. Provide Feedback and Conduct Assessment.
Assess each student’s overall progress and share constructive feedback with them. Highlight strengths, address areas for improvement, and offer guidance for future growth. Open communication encourages reflection and continued development.

Education is supposed to expand the mind, not close it.
But when learning stops at memorization, obedience, and repetition, it becomes dangerous.
A mind that only absorbs information — without examining it — is easily controlled.
Many people are trained what to think,
but never taught how to think.
• They repeat ideas they’ve never tested
• Defend beliefs they’ve never examined
• Obey systems they’ve never questioned
• Fight others over opinions they didn’t arrive at themselves
This is not intelligence.
It is conditioned thinking.
True education does not ask for blind agreement.
It invites curiosity, doubt, inquiry, and courage.
Progress has never come from people who simply accepted what was handed to them.
Every scientific breakthrough, social reform, and moral awakening began with someone asking:
“Is this actually true?”
“Who benefits from me believing this?”
“Does this reduce suffering — or create it?”
Questioning is not rebellion.
It is responsibility.
A society that discourages questioning creates followers.
A society that encourages questioning creates thinkers.
Wisdom begins when you realize: • Authority can be wrong
• Tradition can be outdated
• Majority opinion can still be false
• Loud voices are not always right voices
Real freedom doesn’t come from having more information.
It comes from having the courage to examine it.
Think deeply.
Question respectfully.
Observe carefully.
And never hand your mind over to anyone who asks you not to think.
Because a mind that cannot question
is a mind that can be led anywhere.

Western Music and its impact on the Indian film industry.
------------------------------------------------------------
Avoiding Western culture and civilization not only tends to make one appear rigid or rude, but it also closes the doors of one’s own mind. Even the idea of rejecting Western music can only exist until one has truly explored it. Once you begin listening to music from across the world, you will realize how deeply it has already permeated Indian Hindi cinema whether one likes it or not. This influence exists regardless of personal preference.
From the era of Raj Kapoor to R.D. Burman (Pancham Da) and even today’s composers like Anu Mallik or Pritam, Western musical elements have been adopted and transformed into memorable compositions. It may come as a surprise, but out of the ten songs one loves the most, nine are likely influenced by Western music and in some cases, they are almost direct adaptations.
For example, Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 was used in Bollywood as the song “Itna Na Mujhse Tu Pyar Badha” in the film Chhaya. Similarly, the song “500 Miles” inspired the famous track “Jab Koi Baat Bigad Jaaye” from the film Jurm. There are many such examples.
That said, Indian music has a distinct identity of its own. It carries depth and seriousness, and it deserves to be understood with the same seriousness. However, film music must also be accessible something that the general public can easily understand and emotionally connect with. Whether this balance is always present within Indian classical styles is open to discussion.
Western music is largely horizontal in nature created by the masses and for the masses while its notation system is vertical and harmonic.
Indian music, on the other hand, has traditionally been vertical in spirit, often connected to the divine or the cosmic, while its notation remains melodic.
Ultimately, those who truly understand music will see it simply as music, without dividing it along regional, cultural, or linguistic lines.
Music transcends boundaries. Rather than resisting external influences, embracing and understanding them can enrich our perspective and deepen our appreciation of both Indian and Western musical traditions.

Those notes —
C - Db - Eb - F - G - Ab - Bb - C.
1 – ♭2 – ♭3 – 4 – 5 – ♭6 – ♭7 – 1
This is the C Phrygian scale.
C Phrygian mode:
C – Db – Eb – F – G – Ab – Bb – C
It’s the 3rd mode of A♭ major.
02/12/2025
The notes C, D, Eb, F, G, A, Bb, C form the:
🎵 C Dorian Scale
Why?
Eb = minor 3rd
A natural = major 6th (raised 6 compared to natural minor)
Bb = minor 7th
These intervals (1–2–♭3–4–5–6–♭7) define the Dorian mode.

The scale C–Db–E–F–G–Ab–B–C is:
🎶 C Double Harmonic Major
(also known as the Byzantine scale, Arabic scale, or Gypsy Major)
Why?
The interval pattern is:
1 – ♭2 – 3 – 4 – 5 – ♭6 – 7 – 1
Which exactly matches the double harmonic major scale formula.
This scale is characterized by its two augmented seconds (between Db–E and Ab–B) and its exotic, Middle-Eastern sound.

Byzantine
Arabic (Maquam Hijaz Kar)
