As part of the Kaushal Bodh pre-vocational curriculum under the Work with Life Forms domain, Grade 6 students created handmade bird nests using natural and recycled materials under the guidance of none other than the Nestman of India, Mr. Rakesh Khatri. The activity fostered environmental empathy, enhanced fine motor skills, and deepened students’ understanding of local bird habitats through experiential learning. Students also learned about Mr. Khatri’s inspiring efforts to conserve sparrows by designing sustainable nests from bamboo, jute, cloth, and cotton. The session reinforced the importance of biodiversity conservation and encouraged students to become responsible stewards of the environment through simple yet meaningful actions.
