More and more people are surviving cardiac events — BUT NOT WOMEN.
The American Heart Association is proud to release our first-ever Hands-Only CPR + AED training video featuring a female victim.
Our NEW video: http://spr.ly/6183M6VfD
In a 2017 study of more than 19,000 people who had cardiac events men’s odds of surviving a cardiac event were 23% higher than women’s. Only 39% of women received CPR from bystanders in public compared to 45% of men.
As a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives, the AHA is working tirelessly to inform and empower all Americans to step in during a cardiac arrest – regardless of race, background, or gender.

A new AHA scientific statement reviews data on the experience of lay people who have performed CPR, assessing their perspectives on what it is truly like to respond and do CPR to save someone’s life. The paper reviews the impact of training and dealing with the psychological impact of witnessing and responding to an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
