My granddaughter Nithya, 16 is one of the artists participating in the Art Exhibition 18/06 till 24/06 in Chennai organized by the Chennai unit of Lalit Kala Akademi. The expo is called Kodu (Lines in Tamil) and the budding artists have tried using lines of all shades to express their feelings and emotions. She is happy she found buyers for 22% of the artwork on display which is very encouraging for a debutente. Here is one of the drawings sold - namely priced Rs. 40k.

Dear friends, Linguistics has been my passion and fostering work in Indian languages has been my mission. I am going to talk on my experiences in this journey of a few decades, the little accomplishments and the goals I am pursuing in the program mentioned herein. Let us the academic fraternity celebrate the International Museum Day with the theme of Education and Research by focusing on what the nation needs to do i both the spheres so as to make it really a global leader. Let us remember that growth and knowledge need to progress in tandem.

Today is the Fiftieth Anniversary of our Wedding. Not much of a celebration in Corona days; I think seeing less of Heartfelt Condolences on the social website is more than any celebration. Best wishes from Neela and Jagannathan to everyone for a healthy and peaceful life.

Linguanet has been experimenting with innovative things. The latest plume is the 10 hour Capsule Courses online for teaching spoken languages. We have already launched the Hindi and Tamil courses on an experimental basis. Glad it is shaping up nicely.

Lingua Net is currently engaged in three significant projects – Development of Online Language Courses, OnlineMultilingual Dictionary, and You Tube programs on Hindi grammar. The strategy of the company is to start a program in a specific language and when successful extend it to other languages. In order to achieve this we would like to create a panel of scholars of different languages interested in various fields such as language teaching, translation, lexicography etc. If you are interested please write to [email protected] giving your name and e-mail address. Right now we are in need of a Kannada teacher for a small assignment. Three week intensive program of teaching Kanada to foreigners in July 2018, 60 hours, decent remuneration on hourly basis. I will guide the teacher on the method of teaching. Please contact at the above address.

कुछ समय पहले मैंने सूचित किया था कि हम लिंग्वा नेट नामक कंपनी स्थापित कर रहे हैं, जो भाषिक चिंतन को बढ़ाने के साथ भाषा के लिए आवश्यक सॉफ़्टवेयर आदि का निर्माण करेगी. अब यह सूचित करते हर्ष हो रहा है कि लिंग्वानेट इस दिशा में निरंतर प्रगति कर रहा है.
हमने ‘भारतीय लिपियाँ सीखें’ शीर्षक योजना के अंतर्गत हिंदी और तमिल की लिपियाँ सीखने का कार्यक्रम अपनी वेबसाइट में डाला है. अन्य भारतीय भाषाओं की लिपियों का कार्यक्रम भी शीघ्र ही आ जाएगा.
हमने जीवन के विविध क्षेत्रों से संबंधित 1200 वाक्यों की वार्ता पुस्तिका भी तैयार की है. आप दूसरी भाषाओं के वाक्य सुन भी सकते हैं. इसमें अभी हिंदी, अंग्रेज़ी और तमिल ये तीन ही भाषाएँ हैं. आगे इसमें अन्य प्रमुख भारतीय और विदेशी भाषाओं को जोड़ने की योजना है.
हम जल्दी ही ऑन-लाइन भाषा शिक्षण कार्यक्रम भी शुरू कर रहे हैं. यह अत्यंत वैज्ञानिक तरीके से, कम समय में, सघन वाक् व्यवहार द्वारा मौखिक भाषा पर अधिकार प्राप्त करने के उद्देश्य से बनाया गया है.
हमारी वेबसाइट का मुख्य उद्देश्य भाषावैज्ञानिक शोध को आगे बढ़ाना है. हमने प्रयास किया है कि विद्वत्तापूर्ण विचारों को अत्यंत सुबोध शैली में आप तक पहुँचाया जाए. इसके साथ ही, हम नियमित रूप से चुटकुले, त्रुटियों का विश्लेषण, टिप्पणियाँ आदि भी प्रस्तुत कर रहे हैं. फ़िलहाल ये हिंदी, तमिल और अंग्रेज़ी में हैं, अन्य विद्वानों के योगदान से अन्य भाषाओं में भी आ सकते हैं.

It was a few months ago that I informed you of starting a new company by the name Lingua Net Pvt Ltd with a view to promoting linguistic research and creating useful computer based applications. I am very happy to inform you that Lingua Net is making steady progress.
We have uploaded these two programs on our website, available free 1) Lessons for learning Tamil script 2) Lessons for learning Hindi script. We are planning to introduce scripts of other languages of India in due course.
We have uploaded a program called Multi Lingual Phrase Book, which has 1200 equivalent sentences in English, Hindi and Tamil, pertaining to day to day situations. You can also listen to the sentences. We are planning to include more Indian and foreign languages in due course in this program.
We are starting online language learning program shortly. This will be an interactive program which will enable the learner to speak the language through intensive oral practice in a very short time. We intend to start with one language now and add more progressively.
The main objective of the website is fostering linguistic insights. Blog posts on our website on various areas of language, though scholarly, are very comprehensible, useful and interesting as they address our day to concerns. There is yet another aspect of language which I would to touch upon through this account. I would like to present snippets, linguistic jokes and comments on user errors periodically here, almost on a daily basis. They will be in English, Hindi or Tamil for now; we may include contributions from others in other languages later.
