May 2026 — Recording Diaries

Another Ragas Repertoire recording day.

One among thousands of sessions since 2010.

Today was one of those long summer sessions — sweating hands, technical glitches, retakes and pauses between recordings. But eventually the melody settled into place.

The recording and shooting for the day are finally complete. The editing, arranging and mixing will now take their own journey.

And once again, I found myself returning to Raga Bhopali.

Special thanks to my brother for handling the shooting and recording through the chaos of the day.

A Grade 8 guitarist… couldn’t play the National Anthem without notation.

That’s not a skill issue.
That’s a system issue.

Most learners are trained to: → prepare
→ perfect
→ reproduce

But real music demands: → freedom
→ response
→ instinct

Certification organizes learning.
But it doesn’t create musicians.

Interest was never the problem.
In 2007, Guitarmonk built a 3-floor music learning space in Krishna Nagar —
with classrooms, studio, performance area, and 10+ teachers under one roof.

A complete system — curriculum, books, assessments, and even instruments.
From the outside, everything was in place.

But something was missing.
Not every student progressed.

That’s when we realised:
👉 Learning is not built by access alone.
👉 It is built through commitment, structure, and environment working together.

This insight shaped how Guitarmonk approaches learning even today.
