*Life at TERI SAS*
The students of MSc Plant Biotechnology Batch 2019-2021 at found themselves on the brighter side of the rainbow when they were taken for a field trip to explore the mountain regions of McLeodGanj, Tea Gardens, Bhagsu Waterfall, and Dalai Lama Temple. The two day trip (2nd march 2020- 5th march 2020) involved an exclusive workshop at the IHBT, Palampur making the trip full of fun and learning. The team of coordinators as well the the other faculty ensured that there was maximum learning and utilization of the opportunity but at the same time, they also took care that boredom did not rain over the student's parade.
The two day long workshop included sessions on the following
1) Extraction of essential oils from plant sources using highly advanced techniques such as HPLC, GC and MS.
2) Estimation of the physicochemical properties of these extracted oils under the careful supervision of lab members headed by Dr. Dinesh Kumar (PhD Pharmaceutical Sciences, Senior Scientist IHBT)
3)Dr. Poonam from the IHBT team gave the visitors a tour of nursery in the campus, along with teaching the techniques to nurse these special babies.
All in all the trip wasn't just another dull college trip, it was a journey of growth and exploration.
