Necrosis –
Necrosis is the death of body cells or tissues in a harmful, uncontrolled way. It usually happens when cells don't get enough oxygen or are damaged by things like infection, toxins, injury, or poor blood flow.
When cells die by necrosis, they swell up, burst, and leak their contents, which causes inflammation in the surrounding area.
🧠 Example: In a heart attack, part of the heart muscle can die due to a lack of oxygen — that’s necrosis.
Key Points:
Uncontrolled cell death
Caused by injury, toxins, infection, or lack of blood/oxygen
Leads to inflammation and tissue damage
Different from apoptosis (which is natural, controlled cell death)
