Chitta Ranjan Das (1870-1925) was an Indian lawyer and poet who became a nationalist leader. His main aim was swaraj, or self-rule, for India. He was born into the famous Das family of Telirbagh to Baby Mohan Das. His father was a solicitor and journalist who used to edit the English Church Weekly, The Brahmo Public Opinion. Das finished his studies from the Presidency College in Kolkata in 1890 and then went to England to pursue higher studies. He wanted to complete his civil service examination from there. Although he flunked in the exams but afterwards found success in the field of legal profession and defended many accused of political offences and took an active part in nationalist journalism. After successfully proving himself as a lawyer by defending Aurobindo Ghose in the celebrated Alipore Bomb Case, he was fondly christened the name "Deshbandhu". Standing firm in his belief of Swaraj, he rejected all the political ideas and economic development of India along the Western line. Soon, he left law and started planning out his vision for Swatantra Bharat. With his oratory skills, political vision and diplomacy, he soon became an important leader of the Congress and joined Mahatma Gandhi’s Non-Cooperation movement in 1920. He took active part in the Non-Cooperation movement with Gandhi and even went to jail in the process. But after the failure of the movement, he became disillusioned and proposed a strategy to end dyarchy but Congress did not accept it and he formed his own party - Swarajya Party - along with Motilal Nehru. At the time of his death, Gandhi publically said, “Deshbandhu was one of the greatest of men... He dreamed... and talked of freedom of India and of nothing else... His heart knew no difference between Hindus and Mussalmans and I should like to tell Englishmen, too, that he bore no ill-will to them". To honour his memory, many institutions have been named after him - Chittaranjan Avenue, Chittaranjan College, Chittaranjan High School.

The difference between patriotism and nationalism is that the patriot is proud of his country for what it does, and the nationalist is proud of his country no matter what it does; the first attitude creates a feeling of responsibility, but the second a feeling of blind arrogance that leads to war.

Sapiens is an international bestselling non-fiction book written by an Israeli author and historian, Yuval Noah Harari. It was first published in Hebrew, Israel, in 2011 based on a series of lectures Harari taught at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and in English in 2014. As the title speaks out itself, this book focuses on many major historical and current factors of humankind and how Homo Sapiens came out to be in dominance of the entire planet. Not only the past, the book also leaves readers curious and mystified about the future of humanity itself. Another best thing about this masterpiece is that even common and ordinary people can read it and get to know their domain in a better manner. It covers up literally all of humankind’s revolutionary interims, which have taken place so far. Everything from the way writing came up and evolved, to modern day consumerism is presented beautifully through this book. Besides leaving us with many unanswered questions, it also answers many general questions which many of us might - or will - fail to think of, unless we go back in time to get to know our present. For instance, what could be the reason for gender-based dominance in today’s modern era? Why do humans reign over the world? Why and what gave rise to worldwide use of a common currency? Do these things urge you to dwell into your past? And if yes, then nothing could be better to unlock a bunch of these secrets with the bestselling novel, Sapiens.

Holding up the universe revolves around two different characters with very different viewpoints. The first character is Libby Strout, who suffers a lot after her mother's death. She is also diagnosed with severe anxiety and has put on a lot of weight which results in her being labeled as America’s fattest teen. As we progress through the story, she loses a lot of this weight and decides to bring her life back on track by rejoining the school. The other character is Jack, who has prosopagnosia. Prosopagnosia is a kind of a brain injury or brain damage where the patient can’t recognize and attach faces to the people in their memory i.e. they can recognize that it’s a face but they can’t recognize that a certain face belongs to a certain person. So the story takes off with Libby going back to high school where nobody knows about Jack's conditions. Moreover, Jack is sort of a bully as he finds bullying, a way of hiding his condition. Jack and Libby find each other through a special school program. Eventually an understanding builds between them which leads to an everlasting and unbreakable bond. The book very well portrays the sensitive topic of mental illnesses. The author really takes us through each of their journeys and what life has to offer to them despite their differences. Jennifer Niven very well handles this sensitive topic and empowers each one of us stating that, “We’re all weird and damaged in our way. You’re not the only one”.

He named me Malala.
A very motivating book about a gutsy teenager who survived Taliban & speaks her mind about female education. He Named Me Malala is a well-written, easy to digest book-lite and full of moments that will touch your heart in ways many books of this nature won't. He Named Me Malala is still a powerful set that offers us a glimpse but not a look into the life of one extraordinary young lady. The fresh narrative of the story seems very thought-provoking and the writer's critic gives a great relaxation to the readers. It is a very fitting poignant treatment of an important subject that gives us a peek into the mind of a strong young lady that’s an inspiration to all women in history, present and future.
