On 24 August 2022, The department of English, Indraprastha College for Women had the honor of inviting Ms. Shubhangi Singh, founder of Ancient Golden Mill/Golden Millets for a lecture on "Potential of Millets and its Awareness in India". This event was organized under the aegis of Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India as a part of celebration of "The International Year of Millets" in which Ms. Shubhangi Singh introduced millets to students as a healthy alternative to regularly consumed food items and commenting on their significance in modern lifestyle. The audience gained a benefiting insight about the numerous health benefits of millets, the need to go back to traditional sources of food, accessibility and demand of millets in the market, as well as ways and means of introducing the same in our lives.
The Q/A round after the lecture sparked an engaging and insightful discussion with students and faculty alike which ended with the distribution of food samples amongst the audience by the guest. It was a huge honor to have such an esteemed personality with us.

On 25th July, 2022, The English Literary Society of Indraprastha College for Women had the pleasure of inviting Professor Anand Prakash, an author and retired professor at Hansraj College, University of Delhi to talk about '"his unfinished work": Reading Muktibodh'. He has written extensively on literary theory, literary criticism, and cultural aesthetic trends in English as well as Hindi. He enlightened, both students and the faculty, widely on the works of Muktibodh alongside providing them with insights on Marxist and Modernist ideologies with much more.
The QnA round sparked an engaging debate among the audience and the speaker driving literary enthusiasts to ponder strongly upon the aforementioned subjects. It was a pleasure to have such an eminent personality with us.

Meet the faculty!
Dr. Debjani Sengupta began teaching at the Department of English, Indraprastha College for Women in 1994 and became a permanent faculty in 1996. She completed her doctoral work from Centre for Historical Studies, JNU, Delhi and her post graduation from Jadavpur University, Kolkata.
Dr. Sengupta is the author of The Partition of Bengal: Fragile Borders and New Identities (CUP, 2016) and has edited or co-edited other works including the most recent, Bangladesh: Writings on 1971 Across Borders, with Rakhshanda Jalil. She has authored essays and articles on 19th Century Public Theatre in Bengal and Bangla SF and has translated into English the works of Taslima Nasreen, Selina Hossain and Tilottama Majumdar.
