This quote reminds me of a cartoon I once saw, of a looming boss filling the office doorway, with a soppy-looking young lad beside him, saying to the clerk cringing at his low desk, "I want you to teach my son your job."

Round here we actually want shorthand learners, if not to overthrow, then overtake us in the skill and speed arenas, and very glad to help them do it!

King Charles Coronation timetable 6 May 2023:

10.20 King Charles and Queen Camilla will ride in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach from Buckingham Palace, along the Mall to Trafalgar Square, along Whitehall and Parliament Square and on to Westminster Abbey, and arrive just before eleven.

Stage 1 The Recognition; Stage 2 The Oath; Stage 3 The Anointing; Stage 4 The Investiture, when the King will be crowned with St Edward's Crown, which contains 2,868 diamonds and 17 sapphires and weighs 1 kilogram (2.3 pounds).

Stage 5 The Enthronement, followed by Communion. Then the King and Queen will depart in the Gold State Coach.

14.30 The King and family appear on the balcony at Buckingham Palace to greet the crowds and watch a six-minute fly-past involving the Army, Royal Navy, and Royal Airforce, ending with a display by the Red Arrows.

In short, our technique gets a good shaking up, and that is an excellent antidote to a conventional and sometimes lethargic way of painting.
