How important is implementing brain-based activities in the online lesson? Very!

✨🧠It’s vital to consider activities that foster neurostimulation when lesson planning!✨🧠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🧩 Let’s take a look at how learners benefit from doing jigsaw puzzles in synchronous or asynchronous teaching!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. 🧠✨ Boosts learners’ cognitive skills
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Solving jigsaw puzzles is a complete brain exercise since it exercises both the right and left sides of the brain, the right which is in charge of creative thinking and the left more of logical thinking. When learners solve a puzzle, both sides must communicate and work together, increasing cognitive function. The occipital lobe is the area where the brain connects colors and shapes and it is also activated.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. 👀✨ Better Visual-Spatial Reasoning
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In order to solve a puzzle students see different pieces and place them within a bigger picture. Doing this exercise often helps them to improve their spatial reasoning.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. 🤩✨ Greater Attention to Detail
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Doing puzzles requires that learners pay great attention to details. It trains their eyes to find the slight differences in colors or shapes that will help them complete the image.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4. 🤯✨ Improves memory
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It strengthens neural connections and increases the generation of new connections. This increases mental speed and thought processes.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When students pick up a piece, they have to search among the others for a color or shape and remember the image on a large scale to see which pieces go together. Therefore, exercising this improves the short-term memory.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
5. 💪🏼✨ Boosts problem solving ability
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When solving puzzles learners need to take different approaches to try to solve a problem. They also learn the value of trial and error and putting their own strategies to the test.

Do you use jigsaw puzzles in your lessons? In which stages do you implement them?
Write below!!✨✨🤗

Do you add subtitles to your teaching videos?

Here's why you should start doing it:

🔆Subtitles can help learners establish a systematic link between the written word and the spoken word.

🔆Subtitles provide missing information for students who have difficulty processing speech and auditory components of the visual media

🔆Students often need assistance in learning content-relevant vocabulary, and with subtitles they see both the terminology (printed word) and the visual image.

Here I'm sharing two tools for videos subtitles👇🏼

✨Maestra

👉 It's a video and audio to text converter
👉It's super-fast (it literally took me less than 5 min to add subtitles to a video)
👉It's available in more than 50 languages
👉It lets you work with long videos :)
👉And the most important of all: it's really accurate
❌ You can't change the subtitle fonts.

My rate: 8/10 - it's practical and serves its purpose!

✨ Veed

👉It's a video editor to make short-form video content.
👉It allows subtitling, editing, effect/text encoding, and many more advanced features
👉Its interface is awesome (I'm sure you'll love it as much as I do!)
❌It can be used for very short videos only: video uploads are limited to 50 MB. If you need to edit longer videos you'll have to upgrade your plan.
❌ It's not so accurate so you'll need to consider editing the subtitles a lot.

My rate: 7/10 - it can be considered as an option for subtitles in short videos, but still, it's too limiting.

Merrier lessons 🥳 merrier students 🤩
Here are some ideas on how to incorporate music lessons ✨✨✨

🎷Give learners the possibility to listen to part of a song of their choice (the only requisit is that it has to be in English) at the end of the lesson as a reward 🙌

🎷Play some background music at stages of your lesson to help learners focus (you can use an app full of sounds that create a relaxing environment to learn!
