यूसीएमएस के वार्षिक खेल महोत्सव **एरीना 26** के भव्य पुरस्कार वितरण समारोह में माननीय **प्रो. धीरज शाह** (प्रधानाचार्य) मुख्य अतिथि एवं **श्री राजेश कुमार** (उप-निबंधक) तथा **प्रो. मनीष नरंग** (स्टाफ एडवाइजर) विशिष्ट अतिथि के रूप में उपस्थित रहे।

**प्रो. रंजन चक्रवर्ती** एवं छात्र संघ के नेतृत्व में आयोजित इस आयोजन ने खेल भावना की नई ऊँचाइयों को छुआ। विशेष रूप से, प्रो. धीरज शाह द्वारा महाविद्यालय में **"खेलो इंडिया"** की भावना को सशक्त रूप से लागू कर खेल संस्कृति को जो प्रोत्साहन मिला है, वह अभूतपूर्व है।

🎊 Our former Principal & Professor of Paediatrics, Prof. Piyush Gupta .piyush.gupta has been awarded Honorary Fellowship of (Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health), UK — 2026.
This Fellowship is awarded to those who have made a major contribution to child health through research, education, clinical service & leadership. Prof. Gupta joins a truly elite group.

Over 4 decades, he has worked with IAP, UNICEF & WHO to improve child survival. He has 300+ indexed papers, 450+ book chapters, 50+ books including the landmark 3-volume Postgraduate Textbook of Paediatrics, and served as Editor-in-Chief of Indian Paediatrics.

UCMS के माननीय प्राचार्य प्रो. धीरज शाह जी के नेतृत्व में आज पूर्वी दिल्ली खेल परिसर का एक प्रेरणादायक दौरा किया गया, जहाँ UCMS के छात्र MAMC के विरुद्ध अपने क्रिकेट मैच की तैयारी कर रहे हैं।
इस दौरे में श्री राजेश कुमार (उपकुलसचिव), प्रो. रंजन चक्रवर्ती (प्रोफेसर, शारीरिक शिक्षा), श्री संजय कुमार, सुश्री रुपिंदर कौर, श्री जितेंद्र (सहायक कुलसचिव) एवं श्रीमती गीता (पी.ए.) भी उपस्थित रहे।
🏏 सभी स्टाफ सदस्यों ने छात्रों के साथ क्रिकेट खेलकर उनका उत्साह और आत्मविश्वास बढ़ाया!

Prof. Satendra Singh was invited by the Skoll World Forum at Oxford as part of the Disability Leaders Cohort, where he led sessions on “Why Should We Care About Disability-Inclusive Health?” under the Lancet Commission on Disability and Health, and “Systems Failure: Where Do We Go From Here?” on 22 April at the Ashmolean Museum.

On the occasion of World Hand Hygiene Day on 5th May 2026, the Department of Microbiology, UCMS & GTB Hospital conducted a hospital-wide Hand Hygiene & Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Drive under the theme “Action Saves Lives: Clean Your Hands” under the guidance of Dr. Shukla Das (Director Professor & Head, Department of Microbiology) & Dr. Nisha Goyal (Nodal Officer, AMR Surveillance). The activity aimed to reinforce the critical role of hand hygiene in preventing healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and curbing the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

Dr Shukla Das in collaboration with Girl’s Hostel Warden (Dr Rumpa Saha, Director Professor Microbiology) and Assistant warden (Dr Kirti Nirmal, Associate Professor, Microbiology) held a hand hygiene drive at UCMS Girl’s hotel during Lunch hour. The efforts were deeply appreciated and widely applauded.

The UCMS family expressed deep appreciation for his commitment and contributions over nearly four decades. We extend our best wishes to Mr. Rawat for good health, happiness and fulfilling post retirement life.

The Department of Community Medicine celebrated World Immunisation Week  from 24th to 30th April 2026 with a special awareness campaign on the HPV vaccine for adolescent girls.

The events were conducted at Sant Eknath Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya , Dilshad Garden on 28th April and at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Ghazipur on 29th April respectively. The initiative aimed to increase awareness regarding the importance of the HPV vaccine and promote uptake of the recently launched free HPV vaccination for girls aged 14 to 15 years.

The programme began with a video message from Dr. Dheeraj Shah, Principal, UCMS, encouraging beneficiaries to avail the free vaccination facility. A skit performed by medical students effectively conveyed the message of cervical cancer prevention through timely vaccination.This was followed by a parent interaction session with faculty from Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology from GTB Hospital to address concerns and clear doubts about the vaccine’s safety and benefits.

Girls who had already received the HPV vaccine were appreciated on stage and shared their experiences to motivate peers.Faculty from both departments emphasized that HPV vaccination is a key step toward eliminating cervical cancer, and parental support is crucial for improving vaccine coverage. The school administrations welcomed the initiative and thanked the UCMS team for spreading vital health awareness at the grassroots level.

The event concluded with a pledge by students to become ‘HPV Vaccine Ambassadors’ among friends and family.

Dr. Sumita Halder, Director-Professor of Pharmacology, University College of Medical Sciences was awarded the FAIMER (Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research) completion certificate at CMCL-FRI, Christian Medical College, Ludhiana on 21st April 2026 as FAIMER - Batch of 2024-26.
