We are delighted to announce this open conversation as part of ThATSA10 - Celebrating 10 years of ArThinkSouthAsia.
It has been a year since we began sharing space in our lives with Covid19. In the last one year many artists have had to find alternative careers, century-old venues have closed down, the arts have been locked down and locked out ; yet borders have been dissolved and artistic collaboration and creation has happened across the seas, newer audiences have flocked to digital performances. Where are we headed and what did the pandemic do to a sector so resilient to crises.
To discuss this critical and timely question we have Chris Denton and Lidia Varbanova in conversation with Pooja Sood.
19th March, 7pm IST
Speakers:
Chris Denton: Executive Director (Audiences) of the Southbank Centre in London (Europe's largest arts centre), Chris leads the marketing, press and media relations, external affairs, digital engagement, brand and design, visitor experience and ticketing teams and ensures that the Centre presents itself to the world in a coherent, consistent and impactful way.
Prof Dr Lidia Varbanova: As an international consultant, educator and researcher in over 60 countries Dr Varbanova focuses on strategy, policy, entrepreneurship, innovations, online technologies and environmental issues in the arts, culture and creative industries. She has been permanent and visiting professor in prominent universities in Europe, North America, Asia and Africa and has been published and awarded multiple times.
Pooja Sood: As founding member and Director of Khoj International Artists’ Association committed to experimentation and exchange in the visual arts in India, Sood has worked actively to build a robust network of experimental spaces across
south Asia resulting in the South Asian Network for the Arts (SANA). Sood has served on several international art juries and she is a Chevening scholar for the Clore Leadership Programme, UK (2009-2011). She has been the director of ArThinkSouthAsia since its inception in 2010.

The Art X Company has been working with FICCI and the British Council to map the impact of COVID-19 on India's culture sector through a study that will report its findings every four months.
As one of their outreach partners, we are reaching out to you, to invite the Indian Fellows to fill the second edition of the Taking The Temperature survey if you haven't already done so.
Please consider taking some time to add your input to the survey to help the creative sector continue to gather data and monitor the pandemic's impact on us all.
Aptly titled, TAKING THE TEMPERATURE, the study aims to put out evidence and data on how the artists and organisations are being affected, with the hope that this creates the kind of noise and debate we want in the media and among policy makers.
The survey is currently available in English, Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Bangla. Please also share this within your networks to help us hear from as many stakeholders as possible.
The complete report with all editions will be released in January 2021.
