What is the emotional cost of teaching today?

We asked.

And the answers moved us to act.

In collaboration with the Karnataka Education Department, Centre for Intrinsic Motivation (CIM) and the Development Consortium conducted a ground-level study across five districts in Karnataka to understand the mental well-being of teachers and head teachers.

The data revealed to us that a system running on teacher willpower, not their well-being.

The findings in the study are now being studied to develop a focused program for supporting “teachers’ well-being” in collaboration with the Karnataka Education officials with the hope that a similar program can be offered to teachers across the country.

Centre for Intrinsic Motivation (CIM) recently organised Heads of Schools (HoS) orientations in Delhi and Karnataka, with support from Amazon India. These sessions focused on harnessing the power of intrinsic motivation to inspire educators in leveraging technology for enhanced student learning. A key highlight was the discussion on how Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) can effectively support tech integration in schools.

Recognising the pivotal role of HoS, the orientation provided a platform to share ideas, address school-level challenges, and explore strategies to strengthen PLCs. In Delhi, 34 HoS participated, while in Karnataka, 24 HoS joined us for these impactful sessions!
