Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences was celebrated World Habitat Day with a Speech competition on the topic “Frontier technologies as an innovative tool to transform waste into wealth.” for the university students scheduled on 03 October 2023. The inauguration of the event was graced by the Prof. (Dr.) Vikash Jakhmola, Dean, UIPS along with the faculty members.

The aim of the activity was to inform students about the environmental consequences of Solid Waste, including pollution, and their impact on ecosystems and human health. The event's objective was to promote awareness and action towards reducing solid waste, highlighting the importance of sustainable living and environmental conservation. The competition helps the students to develop excellent oral communication skills and to develop critical thinking skills.

Dr. Vikash Jakhmola, Dean, UIPS motivated all the participants to exchange their views, thoughts through the speech competition. He also talked about the ways to management of solid Waste. Eminent Judges for this competition were Mrs. Jyotsana Suyal, and Mrs. Pallavi Ghidiyal.

Total 30 plus students actively participated in the competition with full enthusiasm and interest. The event ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Tarun Parashar (Associate Professor), HoD, UIPS. He applauded the views of the students for the activity and congratulated the winners. The event was organized by the Guard of Green club of UIPS which was coordinated by Mr. Abhishek Sharma B. Pharm. 4th Year & Faculty Coordinator Mrs. Srishti Morris (Asst. Professor) and Poonam Joshi (Asst. Professor).
