Koustabh Gupta from Welham Boys’ School has been recognised as Highly Commended in the Kurt Hahn Prize 2026, an international honour presented by Round Square to young individuals who exemplify the values of leadership, service, and social responsibility.

Koustabh has been recognised for his sustained commitment to advancing menstrual health, expanding educational opportunities, and empowering girls from underrepresented communities. Through his initiatives, Roshni Ki Udaan and his non-profit organisation, The PostModern, he has worked collaboratively with students, NGOs, and local communities to improve access to menstrual healthcare, climate education, and experiential learning.

His inspiring journey has been featured on the Round Square website, where he reflects on the purpose that has guided his work, the lessons he has learnt through service, and his belief that meaningful impact is measured not by recognition, but by the lives one is able to touch.

As part of our reopening Professional Development Programme, the faculty of Welham Boys' School came together for a series of engaging in-house professional development sessions designed to strengthen collaboration, enhance teaching practices, and prepare for the new term.

The sessions explored Strengthening HM/Tutor–Tutee Relationships, Meaning in the Mundane, and Notebook LLM: AI in Teaching & Learning, encouraging faculty to reflect on the impact of meaningful relationships, find purpose in everyday responsibilities, and thoughtfully embrace emerging technologies in the classroom. Together, these discussions reaffirmed our shared commitment to lifelong learning and to providing the very best educational experience for our students.

Welham Boys’ School marked the commencement of the Autumn Term 2026 with the first day of its three-day Professional Development Programme, featuring an engaging workshop titled ‘The World is a Stage’ conducted by Mr. Abhishek Pattnaik , a theatre practitioner, writer and producer.

Drawing meaningful parallels between the roles of a teacher and a theatre director, the workshop explored how collaboration, empathy, trust and effective communication form the foundation of impactful teaching and learning. Through theatre-based activities, storytelling and reflective discussions, faculty members examined the importance of building authentic connections.

The workshop set the tone for continued collaboration, innovation and excellence in educational practice at Welham Boys’ School.

The Inter-House Cricket Tournament 2026 at Welham Boys’ School witnessed spirited competition, teamwork, and remarkable sportsmanship as students showcased their cricketing talent on the field.

After a series of exciting encounters, Ganga House emerged as the champions, while Jamuna House secured the second position and Cauvery House secured the third position.

The tournament reflected the enthusiasm, discipline, and competitive spirit that continue to define sporting culture at Welham Boys’ School.

As part of the Social Science Department’s ‘Know Your Habitat’ initiative, students of Welham Boys’ School embarked on enriching educational field trips across Dehradun and Mussoorie.

While Grades IV and V visited President's Niketan and Tapovan, exploring history, nature trails and the serenity of the region, Grade VI students visited Guru Ram Rai Darbar to understand the cultural and historical roots of Dehradun.

Grade VII students explored Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, learning about the formation of the Himalayas, earthquakes and geological research, while Grade VIII visited Subir Raha Oil Museum to gain insights into petroleum exploration, drilling and refining processes.

Grade IX students visited Wildlife Institute of India and learned about biodiversity, wildlife conservation and ecological research, whereas Grade X students explored George Everest House and the Cartography Museum, understanding the history of surveying and map-making amidst the breathtaking Himalayan landscape.

The initiative offered students a meaningful blend of experiential learning, exploration and discovery beyond the classroom.
