Building a Culture of Reading
Snehlata Prize

In commemoration of Snehlata’s enduring legacy and the positive influence she has imparted, we honour her leadership at The English Book Depot, established in 1923. She played a pivotal role in introducing generations of readers to the world of reading. Our mission is to recognise individuals who inspire children to read, to strengthen the community of children’s literature, and to support the Good Schools Alliance.

The Prize is announced on July 24, which coincides with Snehlata’s birthday.

The prize-giving ceremony is hosted by ScooNews at the Global Edfest in August every year.

Good Schools Alliance works both online and offline. We host weekly reading sessions and meet at retreats.
Our Sunday My Good School programme began on October 2, 2021, with 9 students from 5 schools. Today, the Good Schools Alliance comprises schools and partners working together to create a joyful learning environment. We organise weekly online reading sessions for students and teachers, celebrate learning at our My Good School Retreats held by schools nationwide, and offer a customised programme for anyone from 9 to 90+ years: Special Projects, My Good School, The Teachers Academy, My Good School Retreat, Youth Engaging Society, YouTube Channel, Newsletter, Internships, Fellowships and a Book Cafe
