FOR 108: HH Sakya Gongma Trichen Rinpoche

His Holiness Sakya Gongma Trichen, will join the sacred gathering for Project 108 from 1-4 November in Gelephu Mindfulness City.

A revered teacher of the Sakya tradition, His Holiness will be among the spiritual leaders gathering for the raising and consecration of the 108 Jangchub Chortens.

His Holiness will join three days of prayer and spiritual practice unfolding along the Mau Chhu.

His Holiness is the 41st Sakya Trizin and the lineage holder of the Sakya tradition of Buddhism. His Holiness was formally enthroned as the Sakya Trizin in 1959 and served as the head of the Sakya Order for more than five decades.

Today, September 15, 2026 (the 4th day of the 8th Tibetan month)—an auspicious day marked by favorable astrological alignments—Her Eminence Jetsunma Kunga Thinley Palter Rinpoche, together with tulkus, khenpos, teachers, and the assembled sangha, offered a Long-Life Tenshug Ceremony according to the Sutra tradition to His Holiness the 42nd Sakya Trizin Ratna Vajra Rinpoche. The ceremony was preceded by the one thousand times Sixteen Arhats Puja, held in deep gratitude for His Holiness's bestowal of the precious Lamdre teachings, the General Exposition of the Ta**ra Classes, the Tree of Clear Realization, and the associated empowerments, oral transmissions, and secret instructions on the Hevajra Triple Ta**ras conferred over many years at Sakya College.

The sangha assembly offers sincere prayers and heartfelt gratitude for these profound teachings and blessings. May His Holiness's life remain steadfast for a hundred eons, and may he continuously turn the Wheel of Dharma.

Following the Long-Life Ceremony, His Holiness conferred the official letter of appointment for the title of Khenpo upon Venerable Loppon Jamyang Dorji, accompanied by a brief enthronement ceremony.

Today is the most auspicious day marking the birth anniversary of our omniscient root guru, His Holiness Sakya Gongma Trichen Vajradhara—the protector of the Teachings and sentient beings, the master of all Buddha races, the lord of all mandalas, the ultimate refuge for this life and the next, and the root guru of three-fold kindness.

​As a noble guardian and support for all sentient beings, the monk assembly of Sakya College joyously celebrated His Holiness' birthday by performing the long-life rituals for three consecutive days.

We offer our sincere and heartfelt prayers for his excellent health and long life. May the supreme protector live for a hundred eons, and may he forever grant the rain of profound and stainless Teachings. May all of his aspirations and enlightened activities continue to flourish in all directions.

This early morning at 6 am, the 11th of September 2026, the sangha assembly performed a long-life ritual for His Holiness Sakya Gongma Trichen Vajradhara's good health and long life, which was presided over by His Holiness the 42nd Sakya Trizin Rinpoche.

Starting 7:30 am, His Holiness Sakya Trizin Rinpoche bestowed the Oral Transmission of the Samputa Ta**ra.

This morning, on 10th September 2026, His Holiness the 42nd Sakya Trizin Ratna Vajra Rinpoche successfully concluded the teaching on the Vajrapanjara Ta**ra.

Starting 10:00 am, the gathered tulkus, khenpos, teachers, and sangha performed a long-life ritual for the good health and wellbeing of our supreme refuge and root guru, His Holiness Sakya Gongma Trichen Vajradhara.

In the afternoon, presided over by His Holiness the 42nd Sakya Trizin Rinpoche, an extensive Panjaranath Mahakala Puja with ganachakra offering was performed.

ཉེ་བའི་ཆར་བལ་བོད་ས་མཚམས་སུ་གཟོད་མི་ནུས་པའི་འབྱུང་བའི་གནོད་འཚེ་ཕོག་པར་བརྟེན་དེ་དག་གི་ཆེད་དུ། ཉིན་ལྟའི་བཀའ་ཁྲིད་གྲུབ་མཚམས་༧སྐྱབས་མགོན་༧གོང་མ་ཁྲི་འཛིན་རིན་པོ་ཆེ་དབུ་བཞུགས་ཐོག་འདི་གའི་མཁན་སློབ་འདུས་པ་ཡོངས་ནས་སྨོན་ལམ་གསུངས་བཞིན་པ།
Following the recent devastating natural disaster on the Nepal-Tibet border, His Holiness the 42nd Sakya Trizin Rinpoche, alongside the assembly of Khenpos, teachers, and monks, is leading daily recitations of the Bhadracarya Prayer (Zangcho Monlam) for the victims at the conclusion of each Vajrapanjara Ta**ra class.
