The energy was unstoppable!

Hundreds of students laced up before sunrise with enthusiasm lighting up the Uttaranchal University campus as early as 5 AM.

From patriotic songs to sheer determination on the track, every runner brought passion and dedication to the 11-km (for boys) and 6 -km (for girls) 'Uttaranchal Silver Jubilee Marathon Run 2026' along Chakrata Road.

Their commitment to the causes of health, justice, and a Drug-Free Devbhoomi truly reflected the spirit of Gen Z leading change.

It was indeed a proud beginning to our Silver Jubilee year!

Learning becomes truly meaningful when the classroom meets the world outside. Taking this experiential learning approach forward through Deeksharambh 2026, the Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences (USCS), Uttaranchal University organized a one-day educational visit to the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on 18 August 2026.

During the visit, Dr. S. S. Thakur, Scientist, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, with his esteemed research team, delivered an insightful and engaging address to the student delegation. Their comprehensive discourse illuminated the intricate geodynamic evolution of the Himalayas, seamlessly bridging theoretical earth sciences with empirical research.

An intellectually stimulating question-and-answer symposium followed, providing a dynamic platform for scholars to exchange innovative research ideas and examine critical scientific challenges in collaboration with faculty mentors. The visit was held under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Sonal Sharma Director, USCS and Prof. (Dr.) Sameer Dev Sharma, HoD, USCS, encouraged and motivated students to actively engage in the event.

Throughout this pivotal academic expedition, total 85 students—representing diverse curricula within the Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences—was expertly accompanied and guided by Prof. (Dr.) Meera Sharma, Professor, USCS, and Mr. Aagman Kaparwan Assistant Professor. USCS. The visit was organized with joint support of Ms Manisha Saini, Head, Academic & Non- Academic events USCS, Ms Manisha Khanduja Co- Head Academic & Non- Academic, USCS, Uttaranchal University.

Stepping into university is the beginning of a journey that goes beyond classrooms—Deeksharambh is about preparing students to understand the world they are about to enter. Continuing this spirit of Deeksharambh, the Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences (USCS), Uttaranchal University, in association with the Corporate Resource Centre (CRC), organized an insightful Expert Talk on “Future-Ready Skills for the AI Era” on 14 August 2026.

The session featured Ms. Anuradha Chawla, Senior Director – HR and Operations, SmartData Enterprises Inc., as the Resource Person.
Prof. (Dr.) Sonal Sharma Director, USCS and Mr. Iqbal Singh Sawhney Director, CRC felicitated the expert and expressed their appreciation for sharing her industry experience and practical insights with the students. The felicitation marked a gracious conclusion to an engaging session that connected academic learning with real-world corporate expectations.

Ms. Chawla highlighted how AI is transforming the workplace and reshaping corporate expectations. She emphasized the need for students to deliver quality work, take responsibility, maintain professionalism, adapt to change, and develop strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and time-management skills alongside technical expertise.

The session offered students a practical understanding of industry expectations and AI-enabled workplaces, encouraging them to become responsible, adaptable, and professionally prepared. The session was coordinated by the Prof. (Dr.) Sameer Dev Sharma HoD, USCS, with the support of Ms. Manisha Saini, Ms. Manisha Khanduja, and Ms. Divya Rawat, ensuring its smooth and successful ex*****on.

Substance-Free Living: Building a Drug-Free Campus Together

Uttaranchal School of Hotel & Hospitality Management (USHHM), Uttaranchal University, organized an insightful awareness session on “Substance Free Living: Building Drug-Free Campus Together” on 19th August 2026.

The session was conducted by Dr. Shradha Bisht, UIPS, who sensitized students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of making healthy, responsible choices. Through meaningful insights and an engaging interaction, students were encouraged to adopt a positive lifestyle and contribute towards creating a safe, healthy, and substance-free campus environment.

The session was also graced from our Director Dr. Manish Badoni of USHHM ( Uttaranchal School of Hotel & Hospitality Management).

The session reinforced the collective responsibility of students and the institution in building a healthier and brighter future.

🏨 Show Round at Uttaranchal University | 19 August 2026

The Uttaranchal School of Hotel & Hospitality Management (USHHM), Uttaranchal University organized an engaging Show Round for students on 19th August 2026. The activity provided students with an opportunity to explore the campus facilities, academic infrastructure, and various learning spaces in an interactive and informative manner.

The session helped students become familiar with the university environment while encouraging them to actively engage with their new academic surroundings. The Show Round was an enriching experience that promoted confidence, interaction, and a sense of belonging among students.

Planting Roots of Responsibility: Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam

Marking a green beginning to Deeksharambh 2026, the Prakriti Club of the Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences (USCS), Uttaranchal University, organized a plantation drive on 14 August 2026 under the inspiring initiative “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.” The drive was held at Shri Nityanand Swami Smriti Village, Telpur, Raja Wala Road, in association with Shri Nityanand Swami Jan Seva Samiti. The initiative beautifully blended the spirit of new beginnings with environmental responsibility, inspiring students to connect with nature and contribute towards building a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future.

During the plantation drive, 60 saplings were planted with enthusiastic participation from the organizers, faculty, and committee members. The programme was conducted under the guidance and support of Prof. (Dr.) Sonal Sharma, Director-USCS and Prof. (Dr.) Sameer Dev Sharma, HoD-USCS.

The event was supported by the JAI Youth Wing, with the active involvement of Mr. Vinayak Sharma Swami, President; Mr. Akash Singh Mehar, Secretary; Ms. Swati, Coordinator; Mr. Biswajeet, Executive Committee Member; and members Mr. Sameer and Ms. Barkha.

The “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative encouraged students to begin their university journey with care and responsibility towards nature. Their enthusiastic participation in plantation fostered environmental awareness, community engagement, and social responsibility.

The plantation drive witnessed the active participation of Ms. Manisha Saini, Ms. Manisha Khanduja, Ms. Nisha Rana, Mr. Ravindra Kumar, and Mr. Aagman Kaparwan. The initiative added a meaningful dimension to Deeksharambh 2026, inspiring students to embrace environmental responsibility alongside academic growth.

Deeksharambh 2026 – Student Orientation cm Induction Program

A memorable beginning for our new batch of students at Uttaranchal College of Health Sciences & Uttaranchal College of Nursing, held at Swami Vivekananda Auditorium, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun.

The event was graced and inaugurated by Ms. Ankita Joshi, Vice-President, Uttaranchal University, whose presence set an inspiring tone for the ceremony.

✨ Dr. Midhu Kurian, Principal, Uttaranchal College of Nursing, addressed the importance of the nursing profession, inspiring students to embrace their roles as future healthcare leaders with dedication and compassion.

The program also featured soulful cultural performances by students of both colleges, a lamp lighting ceremony, Ganesh Vandana, and closed with the National Song a fitting tribute to a new academic beginning.

Turning Biotechnology Knowledge into Real-World Experience

The students of B.Sc. Biotechnology Ist Semester, Department of Biotechnology, School of Applied and Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University, visited the manufacturing facility of Daundi Biological Pvt. Ltd. located at Selaqui, Dehradun on 18 August 2026. The students were warmly welcomed by the company officials and received detailed technical guidance on the production and quality control processes.

The visit provided valuable practical exposure to the company’s manufacturing unit engaged in the conversion of raw materials into finished medicinal products, including solid oral dosage forms such as capsules, under controlled environmental conditions. In the production section, the students observed the functioning of key machinery including the blending machine and capsule filling machine. They noted that the entire production area is maintained at a temperature below 25°C, with strict hygiene and safety protocols being followed at every stage.

Continuous in-process quality checks were also witnessed alongside the manufacturing activities. In the Quality Control laboratory, the students observed the testing of samples for various critical parameters. They watched the use of instruments such as pH testing equipment, weighing machines, quality testing machines, and Gas Chromatography for analysis. The importance of maintaining high quality standards in accordance with regulatory guidelines was explained in detail. The industrial visit offered significant real-world insights into pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, analytical instrumentation, and quality systems. The students express their sincere gratitude to the management and staff of Daundi Biological Pvt. Ltd. for their hospitality, guidance and valuable knowledge sharing.
