Biotechnology program is designed to equip students with a strong foundation in biological sciences, along with an understanding of various engineering principles, our M.Sc. Biotechnology program focuses on developing an understanding of the fundamental principles of Biotechnology and their practical applications in research and industry. The B.Sc. (Hons) Biotechnology program has been designed to provide knowledge of animal, plant, and microbial systems to make students industry-ready and acquire eligibility for higher education in India and abroad, and the B.Sc. (Hons) Forensic program is aimed at developing practical skills and understanding of forensic science and its applications. The M.Sc. Bioinformatics program is directed towards the understanding of bioinformatics and applications of mathematical and computational approaches towards biological data analysis. Further, the Ph.D. Biotechnology program allows students to delve deeper into their areas of interest and contribute to the advancement of the field. Our department boasts of well-qualified and experienced faculty members, as well as visiting professors from national and international institutes, who provide students with holistic academic training along with experiential learning. In over one and a half decade of our existence, the department is proud of its teaching and learning process in terms of our alumni who are now established names in institutes of national and international repute and also in terms of research and development where the department has left an indelible mark. In 2022, we received the prestigious NBA Accreditation that bears testimony to the our high standards of academics. The Department has completed 9 government-sponsored research projects worth 1 crore 32 lakhs, while 8 projects are ongoing worth 1 crore fifty three lakhs. The Department faculty members, research scholars and students collectively publish more than 100 peer reviewed Scopus/Sci indexed research papers and book chapters per year. Our research strength is further exhibited by the fact that our faculty and students have published several patents , some of which are in the examination stage while two of them have been granted by Government of India and one by the Republic of South Africa. We have established several research collaborations with institutes of national and international repute, our students, research scholars, and faculty members are members of many reputed national and international bodies, and are proud recipients of several awards and recognitions. We believe that this recognition highlights the quality of our academic programs and our commitment to excellence.
