Educational Visit to Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology

On 8th May 2026, the students of Class VII were taken on an educational visit to the renowned Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology. The primary objective of the visit was to enhance the students’ understanding of the geology of the Himalayas and to provide them with meaningful practical learning experiences beyond the classroom environment.

During the visit, the students explored various galleries and exhibits related to rocks, minerals, fossils and the formation of the Himalayan mountain range. They observed different types of rock samples and learned how geological changes take place over millions of years. One of the most exciting parts of the visit was the fossil section, where students were fascinated to see preserved remains of ancient life forms and understand how fossils help scientists study Earth’s history.

The students were also introduced to important scientific concepts such as continental drift, tectonic plate movement, and the gradual formation of the Himalayas. The experts and researchers at the institute explained these geological processes in a simple, interactive, and informative manner, making the learning experience both engaging and easy to understand. The students actively participated by asking questions and showing great curiosity throughout the session.

In addition, the visit helped students appreciate the importance of geological studies in understanding natural disasters such as earthquakes and landslides, especially in Himalayan regions. The educational tour encouraged scientific thinking, observation skills, and environmental awareness among the students.

Overall, the visit was highly informative, educational, and enjoyable. It provided the students with valuable knowledge, practical exposure, and memorable learning experiences. The trip was a great success and proved to be highly beneficial for all the students who participated.

Anti-Bullying Day Observed at TCV School Selakui

TCV School Selakui observed Anti-Bullying Day on 5th April 2026 to promote awareness and foster a culture of empathy, kindness, and respect among students. In the weeks leading up to the event, class-wise awareness sessions were conducted to help students understand the different forms of bullying and their impact.

The theme for this year was the Pink Shirt Program, symbolizing solidarity against bullying. Staff members marked the day by wearing pink attire, reinforcing the message of unity and zero tolerance towards bullying.

The program began with a special morning assembly featuring a short video on the origin of Pink Shirt Day, which started in Canada and has since become a global movement. This was followed by engaging student-led activities, including speeches on the psychological effects of bullying, a meaningful poetry recitation, and a musical performance that added a positive tone to the event.

Students also delivered presentations on verbal bullying and emotional intelligence, highlighting the importance of empathy, self-awareness, and respectful communication. A speech on the role of bystanders emphasized the need to speak up and support those affected by bullying.

The program concluded with a musical duet, leaving a thoughtful and lasting impression on everyone present.

To further strengthen the initiative, a writing activity was conducted as a safe platform for students to share concerns. The school will continue its efforts through monthly awareness programs led by students and teachers, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all.

The observance reinforced a strong message: bullying in any form—physical, verbal, social, or cyber—is unacceptable, and building a respectful school community is a shared responsibility.

Educational Visit to the Regional Science Centre, Jhajra, Dehradun
On 2nd May 2026, the Social Department organized an educational visit for the students of Class VI to the Regional Science Centre, Dehradun, with the objective of promoting experiential learning beyond the classroom environment. The visit was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Ms. Tenzin Norzin and Mrs. Dekey Wangmo.
During the visit, students explored a wide range of scientific and geographical exhibits that encouraged interactive and inquiry-based learning. One of the key highlights of the trip was an engaging demonstration on the formation of the Himalayas, which provided students with a deeper understanding of geological processes such as tectonic movements and mountain building.
The students also visited the Taramandal (planetarium), where they gained valuable insights into celestial bodies, including stars, planets, and their movements. This session helped them relate their classroom learning to real-world astronomical concepts in an engaging manner.
Furthermore, the students watched an informative 3D show on the solar system and underwater life. This immersive visual experience significantly enhanced their understanding and made the learning process more enjoyable and effective.
Throughout the visit, the students displayed great enthusiasm and actively participated in all activities.
Overall, the educational trip was highly informative, beneficial, and successful. It enriched the students’ knowledge, complemented their classroom learning, and provided valuable practical exposure. Such initiatives play a vital role in nurturing scientific temper, curiosity, and a love for learning among students.

Inter-School U-12 Invitational Basketball Tournament 2026

The Inter-School U-12 Invitational Basketball Tournament was successfully hosted by Wynberg Allen School from 22nd to 25th April 2026. A total of eight schools participated in the tournament, competing in both the boys’ and girls’ categories. The participants from our school were Class 6 students who represented the school with enthusiasm and dedication. For many of them, this was their first time participating in such a large inter-school tournament, making the experience both exciting and memorable. The event provided an excellent platform for young athletes to showcase their skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

Our school proudly participated with both boys’ and girls’ teams. The tournament was highly competitive and offered valuable exposure and learning opportunities for all the players. The boys’ team displayed great determination, teamwork, and fighting spirit, successfully securing one victory during the tournament. The girls’ team also played with enthusiasm, courage, and dedication. Although they were unable to secure a win in their three matches, they demonstrated commendable effort and resilience throughout the competition.

Overall, the tournament was a meaningful and enriching experience for our students. It highlighted the importance of physical fitness, mental resilience, teamwork, and proper preparation for sporting events. The event was well-organized and provided our players with valuable competitive exposure and practical learning experiences.

The tournament greatly contributed to the growth and development of our young athletes. With continued practice, proper guidance, and better preparation, we are confident that our teams will achieve even better results in future competitions.

The Day Imagination Came Alive…

On 22nd April 2026, TCV School Selakui proudly participated in the Earth Art Event hosted by Hopetown Girls’ School alongside renowned schools such as The Doon School, Welham Boys’ School, Welham Girls School, St. Joseph’s Academy, Wynberg-Allen School, Doon International School, Ton’s Bridge School, OASIS, Unison School, Vantage School and Delhi Public School Panipat.

The event began at 9:00 a.m., bringing together young creative minds to celebrate Earth through art and imagination. Our students enthusiastically participated in Jacket Painting Display, Paper Weaving, and Clay Modeling, showcasing remarkable creativity, teamwork, and artistic talent. Every brushstroke, woven pattern, and clay sculpture reflected their love and respect for Mother Earth.

A special highlight was the Jacket Painting Display, where students creatively designed denim jackets and confidently presented them during a ramp walk. Their dedication and patience also brought great success as our school secured 1st place in Paper Weaving and 2nd place in Creative Sculpture.

Beyond the achievements, the event provided students with valuable exposure and an opportunity to collaborate with peers from different schools. The memorable day concluded with an inspiring feedback session by the Principal of Hopetown Girls’ School, who appreciated the students’ efforts and encouraged them to continue nurturing their creative talents.

On 25th April, 11th Panchen Rinpoche’s birthday was observed at TCV School Selakui with a mixture of joy, hope, and sadness. While the occasion celebrated the birth and spiritual significance of the 11th Panchen Rinpoche, it also reminded everyone of the painful reality that he still remains under Chinese captivity. The program began with the recitation of special prayers dedicated to the long life and enduring legacy of the Panchen Rinpoche and his great predecessors, praying for the preservation of Tibetan spiritual heritage and justice. Students of Class 6 presented heart touching song for the Panchen Rinpoche beautifully accompanied by musical instruments played by senior students, creating an emotional and respectful atmosphere.
A detailed PowerPoint presentation on the life history of the Panchen Rinpoche was shared to help students understand his importance in Tibetan Buddhism and history, followed by meaningful video clips that highlighted his life and the ongoing concerns surrounding his disappearance. To encourage awareness and creative expression among students, art and essay writing competitions were also organized on themes related to the Panchen Rinpoche and Tibetan identity. The winners were awarded prizes in recognition of their thoughtful participation and creativity. The entire program served as both a tribute and a reminder of the continued hope for the freedom and well-being of the Panchen Rinpoche.🙏🙏🙏

HAPPY EARTH DAY Banana Tree Plantation : 🌱🌱🍌🍌🍌🌱
As part of the celebration of Earth Day 2026, our students of Class 6 and 7 actively participated in a meaningful banana tree plantation drive in the school farm. A total of 40 banana plants were planted by the students with the enthusiastic guidance and support of all the teachers.
This activity was organized not only to promote environmental awareness but also to teach students the values of responsibility, sustainability, and caring for our mother nature. Through this hands-on learning experience, students understand the importance of planting trees in creating a greener and healthier future for the planet.
We were also honored by the presence of Mr. INDERPAL Singh Kohli and Mr. Navin, who joined the plantation drive and encouraged the students in their philanthropic and eco-friendly efforts. Their participation greatly motivated the students to continue contributing toward building a better and more sustainable world.
