World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought 2026

The EIACP Centre at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, has published an informative awareness poster highlighting the impacts of El Niño on drought, land degradation, and desertification.

El Niño influences global weather patterns, often leading to higher temperatures, prolonged droughts, water scarcity, agricultural losses, ecosystem disruptions, and an increased risk of wildfires. These impacts pose significant challenges to biodiversity, food security, livelihoods, and sustainable development.

🌱 Restoring degraded lands, conserving water resources, planting native vegetation, and adopting sustainable land management practices are essential steps towards building resilient ecosystems and communities.

Under the spirit of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), let us work together to protect our land, restore ecosystems, and secure a sustainable future for generations to come.

*Our Land. Our Future. Our Responsibility.

🌍 World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought 2026

🌾 Recognize • Respect • Restore Rangelands

Rangelands cover more than half of the Earth's land surface and play a critical role in supporting biodiversity, food and water security, climate resilience, and the livelihoods of billions of people. These landscapes are home to diverse wildlife and communities, yet they face growing threats from land degradation, overgrazing, climate change, and land-use conversion.

This year, let us recognize the value of rangelands, respect their ecological importance, and restore degraded landscapes through sustainable land management and collective action.

🌱 Every action counts:
✔️ Restore degraded lands
✔️ Conserve native vegetation
✔️ Use land and water responsibly
✔️ Support local and Indigenous communities

Restore Land. Secure the Future.

🐊 World Crocodile Day | Celebrating Nature's Ancient Guardians

For more than 200 million years, crocodiles have thrived as vital components of our planet's freshwater and wetland ecosystems. As apex predators, they help maintain ecological balance, support biodiversity, and contribute to the health of rivers, lakes, and wetlands.

Today, these remarkable reptiles face increasing threats from habitat degradation, pollution, climate change, and human-wildlife conflicts. Protecting crocodiles means safeguarding the wetlands and waterways that sustain countless species, including people.

🌿 Protect Wetlands. Protect Crocodiles. Protect Biodiversity.

Together, through conservation, awareness, and sustainable actions, we can ensure a future where crocodiles continue to thrive in healthy ecosystems.
