We often overcommit, get stressed and burnout just because we didn’t want someone to perceive us as “Not smart enough”, “Not strong enough”, “Not assertive enough”. Oftentimes, we tend to say ‘yes’ when we actually should say ‘no’.

When we overcommit, we are allowing others to control our schedule and fill our calendar with their priorities while dismissing our priorities. And after fulfilling an overcommitment, we are hardly left with any time or energy to work on our goals and dreams. So we keep pushing our aspirations away. This leads to a vicious cycle.
