New reality. We are moving towards the contactless world of humans. But in the absence of yesterday year crowded jamborees, we need to move towards the digitally networked and surrounded lifestyle.
Thus the AI, IOT, automation should become almost a part of our extended self. Making our new world data dependent.

The existing technologies in vogue, namely AI, Automation, IOT (Internet Of Things) and Big Data should see this through. And be viable for the growth for the next generation of exploding capacities, capabilities and magic.
At the rudimentary state all this be data dependent ; Acquiring, storage, manipulation and analysis of the acquired data. Be it in its discharge through Big Data, Data Analysis, Mining of data or the science of it. And through, handling of the data and the scripting of it to make sense and actionables. Recreating the new ecosystem and the lifestyle of contactless human existence.

Nothing new of what was in process pre Covid. But it is the absolute pervasiveness of this technological dimension, in total displacement of offline and human based processes. Is what makes it humongous and era changing.

In the new world, as the old landscapes and technologies get shed off. The skill and expertise of enormous scale would be in demand at varying levels of competence and employment.

PANDEMIC TWIST IN THE STORY

But come March, hell did break loose as the pandemic and its raging scourge put the traditional outlets and marketplaces in real dock. Mostly architectured impromptu in crowd infested narrow lanes, jig sawed and unplanned-ly layout-ed true social distancing became an impossibility. AI is extraordinary, almost magical. It mimics human intelligence, analysis and even identifies ways and patterns, something that the human mind would do otherwise. So in anything or in any task, you would not want a human presence, AI can help, can take over.

AI & AUTOMATION

AI is of course the third generation. First being automation pre- programmed.

In the next generation response it is the play of fuzzy logic, internet of things and AI. As you rush to the door with more speed now, the door opening speed increases and you scrape through. Depending on the power of the motor, and the response of the lever, there could be times that the door does not open fast enough and you might partly crash. That being the 2nd generation.

IS AI IN USE?

Now the question would be that, if this is so premium, then what has made it miss the user’s eye so long. The answer being not straight here, but that stands. AI directly displaces the human contact. In areas where the commonplace intelligence is needed. So it does conflict with the human employability in a large way. Whether perceived or real!

IT’S TRULY THE AI YEARS AHEAD

And thus the mandate gets clear. With asymptomatic Covid disease transmission a reality too human-less contact is the course to take to save human lives.
Thus be the devil’s alternative here for one and all, individuals, organisations, societies and nations.
Either make the costly transition to AI driven world. Or stay in the old one with the not so effective protection of the unmanageable social distancing and masking. And continue to pay with a deluge of dead bodies.

The present and impending joblessness, slow down of commerce & fall in growth is ominous. Threatening, and heart-breaking. Months from now, the crisis should deepen. And this time with the humungous recession romping home there be the pandemic, its scourge and death spell. For any and sundry, surviving these months and tears, would come down to the proverbial ‘dousing the fire of the stomach’.
Consequentially many companies operating in a number of sectors would close shop permanently too; as has been trending recently. And many professionals losing their utility would line up the dumps of the rescind.

𝘑𝘖𝘉𝘚 𝘛𝘖 𝘎𝘖

For example, we might be seeing the last of the counter salesman, or as much of the front desk clerk at the hotels. As many lodges and pigeon hole room rentals turn irrelevant. As too, the doorstep salesman. And as many, might be giving up on the domestic help and so it be for the ushers who need switch callings too.
With the crowded footfalls gone guards too be replaced by automated doors. As bus interiors get reworked, losing the conductor, and so it might be for the cabbie courtesies, with driverless cars plying the differently streamlined roads and routes.

Thought the whale of the world economies are turning belly up, this certainly is not the end of their dance. Instead, as history has taught us this would be the period of convergence of technologies. Uniquely intense this time though as the world fights with its back to the wall.

Automation could set in widespread. Logistics taken over by drone deliveries. Production lines accelerated as streamlined manufacturing gets underway by robotic assemblies and artificial intelligence control.
Fixed hours physical retail replaced by 24X7 click purchase and banked online retail. The world being progressively warped, into one global village.
The technological foray spurring innovation and self-starters, redefining employment in the remote working world, opening up a deluge of teaching opportunities with truly instant international reach.

And though the world should ultimately stand to lose a trillion dollars or so. It would be more on account of production or consumption slow down. d) On a mega scale the pandemic being worse in its bark than bite. And more than a few countries having got hold of its spread too. If nothing else it would leave us much more sensitive to the availability of medical services for all, and its scalability. This ideally should have been on our agenda ages ago.

One of them would be to redeploy the major resources from non-productive initiatives, to pressing issues as personal and public health, re-education and continued skill development, disarmament, medical research, development of futuristic technologies and such.

Mathematical modelling and scientific predictions of the spread, flow and longevity of this scourge stand continuously belying. With an emerging realisation that indeed this health disaster is for the long term and apocalyptic.
