ONE KEY MINDSET SHIFT

1. Don’t aim for: ❌ “He must listen”
2. Aim for: ✔ “He slowly chooses to cooperate”

BUILD COOPERATION OUTSIDE PROBLEM TIMES

This is very important (often skipped)
During calm time:
1. “Give me that”
2. “Put this here”
3. “Come sit”
Small, easy wins → immediately: “Nice helping.”

👉 This builds habit of following without pressure

Schools are more open to admission if:

●The child has basic readiness.
●Parents agree to provide shadow support if needed.
●Therapists can guide teachers.

Short-Term Memory (STM)

Short-term memory is the ability to hold and use information for a short time, like:
● Remembering instructions
● Holding numbers while solving math
● Copying from board to notebook

Connection between SLDs & Short-Term Memory

Many children with SLDs also have weak working/short-term memory.

Example:
Teacher says: “Open page 50 do question 3, underline answers”
👉 Child may only remember “Open page 50”
In math:
👉 Forgets steps while solving
👉 Makes “silly mistakes” (actually memory overload)

They “Test” but Stay Within Limits
When he:
1. Scribbles first
2. Laughs
3. Completes the work

●He is exploring the boundary but still respecting the structure.
●This kind of behavior is often related to Social referencing.
●He is checking how adults respond.
