Empowering Change: Shaping Leaders in Harmony with Life – SFL Ambassadors Programme

The SFL Ambassadors Programme has been launched with a powerful purpose—to nurture student leaders who lead with empathy and integrity.

Aligned with the School for Life outcomes, the initiative equips students with critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, innovation, adaptability, and ethical decision-making skills—essential to nurturing holistic, responsible individuals.

What began as an orientation has already transformed into real impact.

This week, the newly inducted SFL Ambassadors stepped into their roles with their first outreach visit to a nearby school, where they spent the day teaching children, engaging in interactive games, sharing stories, and distributing free stationery kits. Through real-world outreach, ambassadors learn to convert their capabilities into meaningful action and community improvement.

As they continue the journey, the ambassadors will build supportive spaces, lead student-driven initiatives, and foster a strong culture of belonging—on campus and beyond.

Beyond the Balance Sheet: Exploring How Liberal Arts Shapes Great Leaders

What began as a session on finance evolved into a dialogue on humanity, perspective, and purpose.

Tanay Kediyal, Partner at Gloplax and former senior leader at Wells Fargo and Allstate Finance, took students beyond numbers — into the essence of leadership rooted in empathy, ethics, and critical thinking.

Students discovered how liberal arts thinking refines strategic acumen, emotional intelligence, and communication — the very qualities global leaders value most today.

At UPES, such interactions bridge academia and industry, shaping leaders who think deeply, act ethically, and lead with purpose.

Learning Precision on Set

For Pawni, a media student at UPES, interning with the production team of Mannu Kya Karegga was a lesson in responsibility and detail. Her role was to maintain daily production reports—tracking progress scene by scene and updating records every few minutes to keep the team aligned with targets and budgets.

A small mistake, like sending a pack-up message too early, taught her how even one error can ripple across the entire crew’s work.

👉 Lesson learned: Precision, observation, and accountability are as important as creativity in making a film run smoothly.

Shaping Perspectives Through Experience

For Khushi, a third-year Journalism and Mass Communication student at UPES, working on the film Mannu Kya Karegga was truly enriching. As part of the costume and direction team, she learned to stay quick, calm, and solution-oriented amidst constant changes on set. Guided by her mentor’s advice to focus on solutions rather than problems, she discovered a lesson she will carry for life.

The experience also transformed the way she views cinema—no longer just as an audience, but with a critical lens that uncovers the “why” behind every scene.

👉 Lesson learned: True growth comes when challenges teach you to solve, adapt, and see the world differently.

At UPES, we nurture such experiential learning to shape not just careers but perspectives for life.

Framing Lessons Beyond the Lens.

For Om, a third-year BGMC student at UPES, working with the DOP team on the set of Mann Kya Karegga was an eye-opening experience. He discovered the immense effort and creativity that goes into crafting a single frame and how lighting alone can transform the mood of a scene.

Beyond the technical skills of lenses, lights, and framing, Om also picked up invaluable soft skills like discipline, focus, and teamwork.

👉 Lesson learned: True filmmaking is a blend of technical mastery and personal growth, where every frame teaches you to be sharper, calmer, and more collaborative.

At UPES, we ensure students gain such experiential learning, preparing them to shine both behind the camera and in life.

Growing Through Hands-On Experience

For Aksh*ta, working as a production design intern on the set of Mannu Kya Karegga was her first real taste of the industry. From sourcing materials to set designing and even construction, she handled it all on her own.
What began with nervousness soon turned into confidence, thanks to the support of her team. The experience taught her the importance of seizing every opportunity and showed her how real growth happens beyond the classroom. 🌟

👉 Lesson learned: Confidence and skills are built by stepping out of your comfort zone and embracing every challenge.

At UPES, we empower students with such experiential learning, preparing them to thrive in both their careers and life.

For Prisha, choosing B.Sc. (Hons.) Economics with Data Science (3+1) at UPES was about more than academics - it was about finding a program that blends innovation with impact.

With UPES’ focus on interdisciplinary learning, research, and global exposure, she’s exploring the perfect balance of economics and data science - understanding human choices while decoding them through data.

At the School of Liberal Studies & Media, Prisha is shaping her future as a problem -solver, researcher, and innovator building skills that open doors to business analytics, policy, and beyond.

At UPES, students don’t just study - they learn to think differently, act purposefully, and design their own success story.

Learning Resilience Behind the Scenes

For ksh*tiz being part of the Mannu Kya Karegga film crew was more than just an opportunity it was an intense learning journey. Working as a background artist co-ordinator, long hours on set, endless retakes, and the demand for perfection tested patience and perseverance.

But through it all, one powerful lesson stood out: Resilience. 💪

The experience showed that true growth happens when you adapt, endure, and keep giving your best—no matter how challenging the situation.

👉 Lesson learned: Resilience is the foundation of success, both in films and in life.

These lessons are not confined to classrooms; they come alive through hands-on experiences in real-world projects.

At UPES, we are dedicated to giving our students the best opportunities through experiential learning, ensuring they are prepared to face the challenges of tomorrow with confidence.

The School of Liberal Studies and Media, UPES, hosted ShabdSetu on Hindi Diwas to reflect on the role of language as a bridge between people, ideas, and cultures.

Prof. Govind Singh emphasized that language is more than communication—it carries respect, empathy, and the spirit of unity. Dr. Sudha Tiwari further highlighted how linguistic diversity shapes journalism and strengthens understanding in a globalized society.

The event featured powerful poetry performances by students, bringing alive the richness of Hindi as a language of creativity, tradition, and identity. These performances showcased how expression through words can deepen cultural awareness and foster dialogue.

For the students of Liberal Studies and Media, ShabdSetu was not only a celebration but also a meaningful academic experience. It encouraged them to think critically about language, explore its cultural depth, and recognize its central role in media and communication. By engaging with such dialogues, students prepare themselves to become more empathetic, responsible, and culturally aware voices in society.

ShabdSetu reaffirmed that language continues to be a bridge—connecting knowledge with expression, and education with real-world understanding.
