In the wake of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, the WII-GATI team, in collaboration with the WII-NMCG organised an awareness programme with school children of Sanjay Inter college, Dehradun . The team highlighted the importance of education in their lives by providing them with insightful information on government scholarships and the prospect of careers in wildlife sciences and conservation.

Dr. Ruchi Badola is a senior professor and scientist at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun in the Department of Eco-development Planning and Participatory Management. She is involved in research projects for generating information on ethnobiology, the socioeconomics of natural ecosystems and the contribution of ecosystems’ services for biodiversity conservation and human well-being. She also developed and implemented training programs to build the skills of state forest departments in the field of planning for community participation in biodiversity conservation, develop sustainable livelihood options for local communities, resolve conflict over natural resources and perform valuation of ecosystem services.
She leads the “Pravasi Ganga Prahari” programme which is a platform for citizens of Indian origin, and others residing across the globe to contribute towards Ganga Cleanliness and rejuvenation under National Mission for Clean Ganga vision.
