NORTH POINT TRIUMPHS at H. D. Lama Inter-School Volleyball Tournament.

Darjeeling: St. Joseph's School North Point etched its name in glory by clinching the coveted H. D. Lama Inter-School Volleyball Tournament, capping off an impressive and hard-fought campaign.

The journey to the title was anything but easy. North Point began strongly, defeating Gyanodaya School in the group stage. Carrying that momentum forward, they overcame Don Bosco School, Malbasey (Sikkim) in the quarter-finals. In the semi-finals, they faced a stern test against last year’s runners-up, Agham Singh Giri School, but displayed composure and determination to secure a place in the final.

The championship clash saw North Point up against the defending champions and crowd favourites, Inspiria English Academy from Damak, Nepal. In a pulsating final, North Point held their nerve and asserted their dominance at crucial moments to emerge victorious.

The team’s success was driven by outstanding performances from Kairav Pradhan and Prayash Chhetri, both S.G.F.I players, along with Prince Paul and Pranav Thapa, who brought valuable experience from CISCE Nationals. Their efforts were ably supported by the dependable setters Lobsang and Pattadon, ensuring a cohesive and disciplined team performance.

Adding to the celebrations, Pranav Thapa was adjudged the Best Player of the Tournament, recognizing his exceptional contribution throughout the competition.

The team also expressed heartfelt gratitude to their Rector, Fr. Bonface Tigga, and Principal, Fr. Anuranjan Ekka, whose presence and encouragement during the final proved to be a great source of motivation.

With this remarkable victory, North Point once again reaffirmed its reputation as a powerhouse in school-level volleyball.

****N.P shines because of a remarkable set of students who give their all to bring laurels to the school they love so much.

Behind all the glory and victory are a set of coaches and teachers who work relentlessly to make this magic happen. A loud 'HURRAH" for all the potters who mold the clay into masterpieces of success and triumph!!!

Edinburgh Cricket Tournament Report - 2026

St. Joseph’s School, North Point – CHAMPIONS!!!

St. Joseph’s School, North Point, emerged victorious in the prestigious Edinburgh Cricket Tournament, defeating arch-rivals St. Paul’s School in a nerve-wracking final.

The campaign began on a disappointing note, with the team suffering embarrassing defeats in friendly fixtures against St. Paul’s. Determined to improve, the boys regrouped under the guidance of Mr. Rohan Gurung, who was brought in to strengthen preparations for the tournament.

In the first zonal match against Mount Hermon School, a disciplined bowling performance saw all bowlers contribute to restricting the opposition to just over 100 runs. Despite early hiccups during the chase, the team secured a comfortable seven-wicket victory, thanks to a counter-attacking half-century by Mr. Parag Ekka.

The second zonal fixture proved to be a setback. Dropped catches and a batting collapse led to a loss against St. Paul’s, serving as a crucial wake-up call for the team.

In the semi-final, St. Joseph’s faced Victoria Boys’ School and posted a formidable total of 200/9. A superb bowling display, led by Captain Idris and Pranav, with strong support from Samdup, ensured a convincing victory and a place in the final.

The final once again pitted them against their long-standing rivals, St. Paul’s School. Having not defeated them earlier in the season, the challenge appeared daunting. Under overcast skies and on a wet outfield, St. Joseph’s lost the toss and were put in to bat. Wickets fell at regular intervals, but a resilient innings of 68 by Mr. Parag Ekka helped the team reach 138, a total considered below par against a strong batting side.

However, the bowlers rose to the occasion. Maintaining relentless pressure, supported by a game-changing catch from Mr. Dipu Thapa, they ensured that St. Paul’s had to fight for every run. In a dramatic turn of events, St. Joseph’s clawed their way back into the game and secured a remarkable 25-run victory, snatching triumph from the jaws of defeat.

Pranav Thapa finished as the highest wicket-taker of the tournament, while Mr. Parag Ekka was named Man of the Match in the final for his outstanding performance.

THANK YOU EDINBURGH TEAM- YOU HAVE KEPT THE N.P SPIRIT BURNING BRIGHT AND HAVE PROVED TO BE THE GUARDIANS OF THE LEGACY...

ANOTHER FIRST AT NORTH POINT!
A friendly football match was played on the occasion of St. Joseph's Feast Day on the newly Astroturfed surface on the P.D.Flat.
For those of you who don't know, St. Joseph, the father of Jesus is the Patron Saint of the school. Thus the school is named after him.
With newly installed flood lighting the match was held in the evening - something that has never happened before!!! Once again a completely new experience for North Pointers...
A loud shoutout to Fr. Rector, Fr. Stanley Varghese for pioneering such stellar and novel experiences for the boys studying here...
